We have seen some of it, but nothing close to what we should have. With all of the layoffs, that is why we are looking at Fall numbers to tell the tail. That is where the effects of the last six months will be seen. As I have said, barring a met down, we are close to required staffing for BP5 where new comes to our staffing rules.

What about vol packages for pilots? Everyone esle at Delta got them... Punshment for a union?

sure thing.

I will note that loads are good for spring break! Better than I though they would be.

Right now it appears that they do not want to do that. They want to make sure that staffing is sufficient for SOC and beyond.

They could, but with forzen pensions it makes little sense unless they offer the FNWA guys pre SOC medical.

The people at DAL that are offered these early outs are the ones that have a pension. These will end to. DAL did not give pensions to new employees after 1999 or so.

The Alaska rumor is still alive. I guess it would be good in the sense we would recapture flying that was given out via codeshare, but I don't want more guys coming in senior to me.;)

On the 90''s. 19 is a good number but 26 is better. The talk long ago was that they would be 1 for 1. Now they could bring them on get all of the 76 seat jets they want and then park the 9's or 88's. It really depends on the economy. I do not think that all of the 90's will be flying though. I would not be surprised to see a few out in VCV until the economy improves. We should get them at about 8 mil a copy and 1 mil in mtc work. Even at this deal they are more expensive than both the 88 and 9's due to the low lease rates on the 88's and no payments on the 9.

This statement is incorrect in a couple of areas. They can not get all the 76 seaters they want. There is a limit of 255 total regardless of how much they grow the mainline. They could put 76 seats instead of 70 in more jets if they grow the mainline. The total number however does not change. The second point is that if they increase the mainline and then shrink it back there would be a need to furlough. If they furlough then the company has to start taking seats back out. I believe we are near the 255 max now so there can not be more growth on those jets at DCI. The only change is the number of seats.

Not necessarily. I could see a LOA to allow the 156 seats to stay. I could also see them only taking out those 156 seats and not the seat on subsequent orders/ deliveries. Read 154 and above.

Does anybody have any idea about how many 757s out of the Northwest Fleet are getting parked? Just had the June APA out, and there were a lot more displacements. Sounds like there are still more to come. :(

I'm back to the DC9 just in time for the summer heat.:( At least I'll have my hat to help keep me cool.;)

My understanding that there are somewhere around 5-7 coming out of the NWA side. I spoke to crew planning last month and was told the reason for the displacements is purely due to the requirement for staffing the large increase in -9 flying. They can't hire and needed a way to staff the -9 which has been slated for a very large increase in flying levels.

I guess the DC9s and 320s will be VERY busy this summer, because they are displacing A LOT of guys to those airplanes. I was looking forward to not sweating this summer, but I am happy to just be employed this summer. Guess I better get some more shirts.;)

It looks like just about every DC-9 Captain who was displaced has been recalled. There were even some awards. When I went thru CQ they said they needed 200+ DC-9 pilots for this summer. It seems to me that they should have left the 757 guys/gals there, since they will be going back soon for BP5. Hopefully, that is....
