Thanks guys.

Is it true they are good for Mainline flights only?

I'm thinking about bidding reserve in December. Not having bid reserve in a while when I want more than one group of days off, I need some advice. If you want say 3 seperate groups of off days, do you bid them all on one line or list each group seperately? Do I start the bid with the days I really want and then add on to them in each subsequent bid line or bid all the days I want off and then cut them down in subsequent bid lines? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,

Denny

He could also be in rest from a trip that ended earlier today, so he can't fly one of the trips.

Or, like the other poster said, he could of put in a YS. The simple answer is there isn't enough information provided on the RAL (Reserve Availability List) to determine why someone got a trip or didn't get a trip. I've called the scheduler sometimes when I don't understand why I got a trip. Usually there is a explanation.
Thanks..is there a worse reserve system in the industry? SWA makes 40% more than us AND they have a better reserve system that pays 78 hours...unbelievable how far behind we are!

Use separate lines, like this. Assuming you want Dec 24,25,26, then Dec 4,5,6 off first, then dec, 10,11,12

Prefer, off 2,25,26
Prefer off 4,5,6
Prefer off 10,11,12

That's how I'd do it.

Janus Manager Turns To U.S.; Cutting Back On Emerging Markets

A few years ago, Janus Overseas Fund (JAOSX) was heavily criticized when it became hugely overweight in emerging markets.

It got hit hard (more than a 52% loss in 2008) but bounced back strong, gaining 78% last year and has returned more than 20% so far this year.

As noted in this Bloomberg interview, manager Brent Lynn believes emerging markets aren’t the buy they once were and is turning back to developed countries, particularly the U.S., for his latest picks.

The fund’s top holdings include Ford (F), Delta Air Lines (DAL), Yahoo (YHOO) and Continental Airlines (CAL).

One stock he’s held onto through the bad times and good times is Bank of America (BAC).

But nearly a third of his portfolio remains in emerging markets. And it’s also worth noting that Lynn in past interviews has never been an especially big fan of European stocks on the whole. That helped last year and makes his portfolio a very different sort of mix than most.

(He still appears to be a big fan of India, by the way. Reliance Industries remains a top five name.)

Denny, bid each group in priority order and separately. Also, you can bid a "range of dates" or specific dates. Seems to me that I've had more success bidding specific dates and not the range. I think the computer looks at the range and if there's a bad date in there it kicks the whole range out.

iaflyer and buzzpat,

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I should bid each group of days on a separate line. Thanks again guys!
