What's a 401k?
Now lets use that in a sentence: "I heard Carl might claim a hardship to get the money out of his 401K to pay for his Latest and Greatest 2010 Christmas party which cost 401K, as in $401,000." To which you might ask, why $401,000? I honestly don't know, why don't you ask the L&G Party Planning Committee, maybe they know? Who is on that committee anyways? We've got 15 hours to plan this thing out before Carl lands. |

I know Flight Ops (the career counseling company) is having another job fair this weekend (at IAD.) Apparently, Delta wasn't happy with the way the last few job fairs had been run. They had tons of people wanting to get some face time with them, and it was first come, first served - so alot of candidates stood in line all day and never got to talk to anyone. Delta made their complaints known to the folks that were running the job fair, and it seems the result is that Delta is now scheduling "slots" with a limited number of job fair attendees, rather than having a free-for-all. This might be the "interview" to which this person was invited.
My understanding is that its not a full fledged interview, but it is a one-on-one with one of the higher ups in the recruitment/newhire process (kind of a "pre" interview, I guess.) I don't know if Delta is selecting the folks that get these slots (so they spend time with folks they already know of qualified and competitive,) or if its based on when you registered. And, or course, the golden question is: would they spend this kind of effort talking to potential newhires if they didn't plan on ramping things up again soon? I don't have that answer. We might gleen some useful information if we know the status of the interview team. Were they disbanded after last summer, or are they still operational? |

Thanks!! That worked. It's about the only combo I didn't try. I was suprised that SAN is the only airport system wide that the A319/320 has special quals. I would think there would be some stuff in Mexico or the Mountains or Central America that would apply.

Hiring rumors
Spoke to a 4th floor guy while walking across the skybridge yesterday and I asked him about hiring. He said that Delta is going to the board soon to get approval to hire next year. He said 500-600 was the latest number. He also seemed to think that another issue effecting when they start the next round of hiring is that a lot of people are of the opinion that the next time they start hiring, it will essentially just keep going.
Sounds to me like it will be hiring for the summer '12 schedule... he said some things about retirements, and that the timeline they usually consider from interview to the line is ballpark six moths... He did not seem to think Alaska was going to happen, at least not any time soon. He also discussed the cockpit upgrades for not just the 88/90 but 75/76 as well. Also talked about how busy the training center is lately. Gonna be interesting to see how they get it done if there is a big bid plus hiring next year. |

I have heard that there is a 765 upgrade too that will have an ROI as well. I figure AS will happen when it needs to happen to keep our network intact. Moe newbies the better. :D |

What upgrades are the 88/90 supposed to get? Are they going to an MD-11/717 type setup or something like that? |

Innovative Solutions & Support Take a look around, 757 stuff there too that I know the 756 guys would love. It brings the cockpit displays up to Ejet standards. :D Here is the article on SWA upgrading their 733s with GE: PICTURE: Southwest launches 737-300 cockpit upgrade with Boeing and GE ---- Hey Satch, ready for hell week? :D I always hated the week leading up to the game. Loved the aftermath of a win but even a loss was better than the week leading up to it. |
