If the new FCs are good guys, fine and I guess I'll hold judgment or take your word for it.......for the moment. However, I continue to be concerned that we continue to put "good old boys" who don't see any problems in the way we've always done things in positions of leadership. "Move along nothing to see here. New equipment, policies, procedures? Why would we need things like that". If they are for "best practices", fine, like I said I'll watch and wait for now. Constant improvement is the foundation of TQM...........adapt to changes in technology and business environments or die. |

Yes Ken was effectively chased out earlier and I don't know who is doing contract admin and or grievance . But yes they tell us that we are all delta now.

Totally off the topic here, but do any of you know if Delta offers some partial reimbursement towards a health club membership? I vaguely remember either reading or hearing about this at some point. I'm thinking it was like $200/yr -- I pay $50/mo. now, but will happily take whatever I can get.
Thanks :) |
Seeings how we are having all these problems in the 7er fleet, I vote for spygate to be reinstated to find out what's going on. :D

The bottom line on the fleet captains is that 99% of us will never know or care who they are. Unless you bust a training event, you'll probably never even meet them. They don't impact your life. If they're good leaders and managers of people, who gives a **** what they have flown or not flown?

Its a managerial position that oversees sim schedules, instructors, etc. In reality, they have very little impact on operations and/or policies.

I figure with the fleet Captains not being tied to a specific fleet, the next step will be to have LCA's doing some sim work so that our training mirrors the line. I have heard a few errant comments about this over the past six months, and it seemed that they were leaning in that direction.
As I understood it, reverting back to a one sided training command was something they were looking at. I suspect that to get a better transition from schoolhouse to line that may be the way many are pushing. Just a guess though based on a few comments here and there. |

You mean just like NWA did it. In my opinion as a LCA it produces a better product out the door. You don't end up with such a disconnect between the schoolhouse and the line. I can't tell you how many times I have heard my students say they were told "don't worry about that, you'll get that on OE" I realize some of this cannot be taught in the sim but it is much better to have a sim instructor who has been flying the line and can provide some real world "best practices"
I have worked under both types of systems at my former airline. I worked the transition to a Standards department, and there are pluses and minuses to both. I do agree that the product from start to finish is more "big picture." |

The philosophy of checklist et al comes from the Director of training, the nuts and bolts come from the technical experts. The Fleet Captain signs off on the changes. From what I am told, having one Fleet Captain over multiple fleets will allow that person to see areas in which we can harmonize our product and procedures to the line pilot. My take away was that it will allow for more policies and procedures to be similar across fleets thus making the transition easier. |
Has anyone heard or have any info on the LGA slot swap?
