I see this a lot with DTW 320B. Be sure to check the dates as sometimes they have a SC time for tomorrow on today's list.

How do "spill" trips pay out? Is the pay divided b/w the last and first days of the month? I know the answer is back on page 1069 or something...but...I just don't have the time to search.

Yes, been on reserve for quite some time and know how the res avail list works. Informal agreement? Just what exactly is that worth? They are following the contract, nothing to send to alpa here. I'm just saying I don't think we should ask them to waste their time on the list. I don't like it when they ask me to waste my time. You get 6 a month, when your cat is overmanned then they can exceed that list daily because they can. And I'm mspm88 b.

Delta Air Lines is preparing to start discussions early next year with manufacturers about replacing its aging narrowbodies.
Speaking during the carrier's annual investor day Delta president Ed Bastian said: "We clearly need to get the DC9s retired. We clearly need to start to build a replenishment strategy for our older MD88s and some of our Airbus narrowbodies as well as the [Boeing] 757s."
Flightglobal's ACAS database shows that Delta currently operates 40 DC9s, 117 MD88s, 179 757s and 126 Airbus A320 family aircraft.
"We'll have more data as we talk to the manufacturers," says Bastian. "We've not been in a position the last couple of years because when you put two airlines together you really pop out so much capacity that you want to make sure it is fully allocated and fully productive." Delta and Northwest merged in 2008, and attained a single operating certificate from the FAA in December 2009.
Bastain explains now Delta is "at the point of the cycle where we think we should have those conversations", with airframers.
Delta's president also states the carrier is "open to different economic financial models" in acquiring new aircraft, and would consider both direct ownership and leasing.
Remember where you heard it first. Using reasonably accurate estimates our MD88 and 757 fleets are nearing structural limits requiring their replacement. Figuring a 18 to 36 month lead time from orders to deliveries we are serious shoppers.

Stock usually jumps with talk of airplane orders. As a trade, buy DAL on the dips, plan for a sale around mid to late June. I can see a Delta representative at the Paris Air Show talking about how our orders integrate into the needs of our global partners, with the Air France rep standing in front of an A380 model. If so, good for us as we get a lot more staffing out of our split in the AF/SkyTeam allocation.

What is most interesting about this announcement is the signal it sends on potential merger partners. This tells me it is less likely (although still possible) we believe Alaska's fleet will be deployed as part of Delta.

I think paying for our own fleet replacement is something of a last resort for Delta management. Aside from the DC9, there are no efficiencies that will make the new jets "self financing." In fact, in the case of the 757, the replacement jet may not even be as efficient (refer to press on British Airways replacement of their aging 757's with A321's).

I discussed this with the ALPA scheduling guy at length. The basic answer on why there were 2 to 3 times the projected short-call list was "IROPS". MSP had a bad weather day (not the shutdown last week, this was in Nov) so they put *ALL* the 7ER categories east of the Mississippi "on alert" for lack of a better term.

The scheduling guy said, well, the SC list is just a projection, they can add to it for any reason. This irks me to no end - what's the point of a list if you're not going to follow it?

Like someone else said, I'd prefer to just not know what the SCs are, rather than look at the proposed list, then the actual list and get annoyed there are twice as many on SC as proposed.

Each leg pays into whatever month it departs, local time of departure I believe. Any credit on the trip ends up in the second month.

Thanks. That's what I thought but wasn't positive.

I still need one more to get a PB day on the 25th which shouldn't be a problem looking at the numbers. I've seen a couple guys who have around 60 hours GS pay already for the month. January #'s look the same in SLC.

Disclaimer: For those anti-GS guys lurking around, I did this to get Christmas off NOT for the pay.
Yeah I started the month with gunning for Xmas off and because of the 3 gs's I'm now off the 21-28th. Originally I was supposed to be on call the 22-31st so my plan worked out beautifully, plus the 50+ hours of gs pay doesn't hurt either .

Not bad considering this is my first month ever to do gs trips.

The GTO's getting a lot of love on Showdown: The Fast and Reasonably Attainable Edition : Hooniverse

This greenslip month and you could trade your way into a 5.0 Mustang. Wonder if they make a "crew scheduling edition" with special "call, to the sign in desk in 15 minutes performance package."

Better yet, sell your Holden to me.

That's the way to work the system.

Enjoy Christmas off while I'm chemtrailing the friendly skies.
