Might be a game changer, especially for a 100 seater. It would be interesting to see the comparison with the C series with the new specs on the Airbus--and Boeing's reaction.

Boeing's reaction is improvements to the 737 that have already netted about 7% and the realization they can't stuff a bigger fan under the wing of an airplane with little landing gear. Bigger gear means new wing and huge costs.
Meanwhile, Boeing's got a big order book for the 737. As long as it sells, they will milk the cash cow. Development costs on the 737 were amortized eons ago.

The AFA interference claims are embarrassing. If that's all they've got then they are in deep trouble. There's no way the NMB can call for a new vote based on those flimsy allegations and still maintain any appearance of being impartial.
The unions got the NMB to change the voting rules and they still lost.
I can't see the NMB bailing them out again. It would be way too obvious.

Anybody know if contractual crew scheduling needs to cover trips for the next day by a specific time?
Haven't found anything specific in the contract though most of the time coverage has been completed by noon, including short calls.
Just wondering if something is in place there, or if crew scheduling can wait until 9pm the day prior, if they choose, to start assigning trips/short calls.

Of course, the ALPA guys can pick up using special rules. But for the rest of us, you are at the mercy of a scheduler who will give out open time more than a day in advance to a reserve instead of awarding a white slip. Total B.S. and needs to be addressed in the next contract.

I guess the company can build lines that don't meet the off day grouping requirements. PBS will give you 9 days in a row....you can only put 6 in a row yourself. PBS will give you less than three reserve days in a block.....you cannot create a block that is less than three. PBS will give you one day off between blocks....you can't create less than two days off between blocks. PBS will give you more than 5 off day blocks....you cannot move days to create more than 5 off day blocks.
I've noticed the last few months that when PBS builds schedules there are very few ways to move days due to the requirements that THEY violate to build your line. Even with reserves above the minimum you still can't move stuff because of all the off day grouping requirements. It's getting ridiculous. If WE can't do it, then they shouldn't be able to do it either.

A domestic pilot can build reserve on call days from 3-9 with from 1 to as many off as they have available to use.
Too short blocks "on call" (less than 3) can be built at the beginning or end of the bid period.
these are domestic examples of reserve. Read the PBS gouge on the deltanet and/or call the call center for bid assistance.
Now moving reserve days is a whole different animal and does suck badly!
