I believe that you will have to wait for Deltanet to come back up since they are not in DBMS yet. They probably wont be put in DBMS until Monday. Hopefully they can get DeltaNet back up and running soon.

Hey, there's a lot of C-141s there, they have P&W engines right? Hmmm... how many people could we stuff in a C-141? How many pilots are already trained on it? Imagine landing and hearing "I guess ATL left the tug in the back again, are you going back to ATL because you can take it with you?"

Fun yet dumb idea of the day... CHECK.

On the MD90 note, the memo about the RFP for new aircraft said we've purchased 33 used MD90's. The only one's we've *officially* purchased that I'm aware of are the 3 from hello, and 13(?) from China eastern. Couple that with the 17 we already had means our EXISTING fleet is 33 airplanes.

So did someone do their math wrong in that memo, or did I miss the memo about us getting another 17 new/used MD90's?

DLNet is back up and running. All bids are published.

...And my math is fuzzy too. I guess it was 11 from China eastern and 3 from Hello. I only count 16 we had before 2009, but numerous articles I look at say we had 17.

Anywho, we own or have aquired 30ish MD 90's at this point, correct?

I count 39 in the world that are being sold, phased out, or retired that I'm sure we're talking to the owners about (16 JAL, 13 China Southern, 5 Blue 1, 5 Lion. I'm not counting the 29 at Saudi - yet.)

Razor, 19 on property, 23 more to come for a total of 42.

Put "aircraft fleet information" in the search engine on Delta net, there is a good PDF that pops up.

That pdf still shows 5 more 319s and 2 more 320s coming, is that true?

And 1 more 757.

But get this: 176 transoceanic jets, 552 domestic birds (including at the time 5 DC9/40s) and 728 total mainline. There are 634 regional aircraft which includes Saab 340s. Of all 1,362 Delta system aircraft the largest single fleet belongs to... the CRJ200 at 361.

In fact look at it this way, there are 361 CRJ200s, 70 CRJ700s and 101 CRJ900s for a total of 532 aircraft. Thats 39% of the system wide fleet belongs to Bombardier while 29% of 395 aircraft are "originally designed" Boeing. That blows.

But the good news that are 175 aircraft designed by the grace of God.

Delta has already announced the lease of 5 MD-90's from SAS (last at Blue1). I think Lion only has 4 of the original 5, and Saudia only has 27 left. I don't believe all 27 of those are flying, so some of them may no longer be available.

I believe the total committed MD-90 fleet is 49 aircraft including the original 16 DAL.

49 is correct. There are the 16 original aircraft and Delta has contracted for a additional 33 airframes. So far only 3 of the new airframes are in service. The remaining 30 are awaiting mod lines. The nice change is that 18 months ago the MD90's were slated to replace MD88's that were coming up on major overhauls. They are now being used as growth airframes.

I can tell you from living in Renton WA where the plant is that things have changed slightly. I work out at an LA fitness where they used to hang the engines on the old 757 line, get my starbucks where the wings used to be attached, and buy home supplies at Lowe's where the paint shop used to be.

Now it's less building and more assembling. 73's show up mostly put together by rail, the wings from somewhere else, they are mated somewhere and a Boeing decal is put on under the cockpit window.

I think the 757 line is loooonnnggg gone.....

FTB,

Caution to how many pics of "multiple" C-141's you post. I'm sure BUZZPAT is lurking somewhere close, and posting all those pics of his 2nd love (possibly 1st love):), might just cause him to push the idea to the union for future negotiations.

Remember, Buzzpat = C-141's like NewK = DC-9's
