This needs to be a sticker on everyone's flight kit.

Well.. since we're phasing out flight kits, overnightbags? Now I know why we're going to airside! That way we can't put all our stickers on our flight kits anymore!

You can always stick one on your forehead! :D

I would. You never know when you will get converted. It is just good insurance. You will get a week you want and then get converted. :D

Ok. So, I don't bid for the new vacation until I get converted. Got it. I bet I get it all figured out the day before I retire. Thanks. :D

Isn't that part of the game? Figure it out before it changes again. :p

If you look at the bid monitor report, you will see that in Jan 2010 our staffing formula required 9301 pilots. In January 2011 it's 9911. Someone talked about trend vectors, I'm not sure but that seems like a good trend. You can also see that we had 768 pilots on Mil Leave and furlough bypass in 2010. In 2011 it's 636. So the total pilot numbers have gone down, but the number of pilots in flying positions has gone up. We also have 82 new hires that have yet to cycle into active flying

Awesome! More flying with fewer pilots! Which side are you negotiating for? Sounds like a page out of management's wish list.

The best job protection is NOT no-furlough clauses not worth the paper they're written on. The best furlough protection are aircraft OPERATED by the mainline and FLOWN by Delta pilots, no matter the size. EVERY seat is worthwile, NOT just the ones you feel "are worth it". Every seat is worth it.

Where do we find such people?

And how about that MEC meeting where the representative to the BOD is selected? Who scheduled that meeting right before the term for the incoming reps? Wouldn't it make more sense to have a rep who will serve out a term coincident with the LEC members that select him/her?

Uncle Ferd fell into a whiskey vat last week. Some men tried to
pull him out but he fought them off and drowned. We had him cremated, he burned for three days.

Just a few facts to assuage the fears that have stirred around here lately. First, all jets are not created equal. We have added 10 777's to the fleet, which are the international adds since 2007. Those 10 aircraft produce as many pilot jobs as 40 DC-9's. That's right 40.

Good analysis except you overlook that it is a roughly 1/3 reduction in Captain seats for that staffing, and all junior Capt seats. Those are going to DCI, and we have more long term F/O's. Good news if you are senior already and eligible for those new WB A's, sucks if you wanted to be a junior NB Captain. How much longer to a first time A position now?

Bluto 02-04-2011 02:56 PM

Uh, those 777s need Captains too, right?

Heyas,

You have to remember that a lot of what gets posted from a certain crew is nothing more than "unofficial" crowd control.
