They may not have ever technically "lead", but when you look at the W-2's of the SWA pilots (not just "pay scale"), it appears they were pretty close to right there with us... even when we had C2K rates. The conventional wisdom is that they were always far below the legacy airlines prior to the bankruptcy era. It appears that is wrong.
Me too. And even though I am now in a fNWA base, I'm not seeing anything like this either. I have provided input along these lines, and the two voting reps have basically just blown me off. Since these reps won't share where they stand with me, I can only speculate as to why... but I suspect it's because they do not agree with this input and therefore believe we can only achieve something substantially less. UNSAT.

Notice how ALPA is trying to "manage our expectations" already with memos in our boxes about "how to read a financial statement" and "how to fuel hedge.". I don't really care about that. Restore our pay and benefits, or let the DPA do it. Big gains in all areas, and I want to see it in the ALPA opener for negotiations.

It's just a shame that we may have to fight our own union as hard as company management.

No reason to be informed about any of the issues.
Good thinkin'. I'm with ya 100%!
Why would we not OPEN our negotiations with statements about restoration or (at a minimum) something similar to SWA payscales (meaning W-2's).
Not a flame to you and I appreciate your insight but I'm curious why we wouldn't want to open our negotiations with restoration (and if needed negotiate down from there). Seems anything else would mean we're doing management's job for them.
Again, not a flame. Curious what am I missing. Thanks.

There's never been an airline yet, that paid above average wages, with consistently below average earnings. It just doesn't exist; yet some seem to think we can ignore those sorts of facts. I respectfully disagree.
Provide ALL the facts, that will permit each of us to make an informed decision as to how much it will take to get a YES vote.

Heck Dal,
I thought you had written the paper or at least you were plagerized in it. I hope you give them a pass by not requiring a footnote that cites you as the source. I am glad at least one council is putting out stuff like that and am hopeful the MEC is at least talking that way with our management team...time will tell.
In future papers, it would be great to have scope addressed in a similar fashion as well as scheduling/reserve, vacation, etc. It isn't only about the payscale although I would guess that for many it probably is.
I dont know about you folks, but I am absolutely ready to unify around our contract going forward...whatever it takes.
