Notice I didn't say if, with the unplanned losses and the training time limits we will need to start soon.
Honestly, with the slot swap approval and unplanned early outs I don't think they can get away without hiring.

The REAL thing to pay attention to is the aircraft order. RA has made it clear the 100/130 seater will be flown by Mainline, but at what cost? More 76 seaters? I think anything less then from here on out any airplane that will have the letters DELTA on the side being flown by pilots on the Delta seniority list is UNACCEPTABLE. That includes Delta Private Jets.

It's extremely important that we all participate in our contract survey, & watch management's feet.

Stop assuming everyone is envious of SWA, & stop lashing out at everyone who dare insults your almighty SWA.

Talk about being childish. Pot, meet kettle.

Just because you want to waste time and gas doesn't mean the rest of us want to. I'm not SWA and I like to taxi faster than a slow walk.

It's sad to see a group of grown men engage in such catty behavior, all over jealously and envy. Channel that anger into your negotiators, and you might actually get a contract you can be proud of. Or there's the alternative: what your doing now.

Grow up.
And yet Delta is your dream job.

Checking our schedules at start time seems like the whole give them an inch concept
It gives me insurance, against some of the situations you see posted on this board. I have been told by multiple pilots that they get these calls, when in fact they are completely with their wits and never received notification, and, or checked their sked per the PWA, only to be called and asked where they were. It is just good practice so that if I am ever confronted with a question as to why I did not report or why I did not acknowledge a rotation, I will have my proof.

I'm the same.
I take a screen shot pretty much every time I log on to DBMS.
It only takes a half second. Might as well have it.

Not to be a downer, but I doubt they'll hire this year.

Back in April or May management announced a planned 4% capacity pulldown for the 3rd/4th quarter compared to last year. That's more than enough to absorb the 164 guys that are retiring during the rest of the year. My bet is that they won't hire until fall 2012 unless next summer's block hours are planned way up. If the economy doesn't puke and there aren't any legislative/ownership/cabotage surprises, they'll need to hire every year after that as age 65 kicks in.

They're more like WalMart IMO.
Many many folks are happy with Walmart and that's not good for us. Pretty bad in that many many folks prefer SWA to us.

Good stuff. I talked to the F/O rep and it's even happened to him. I agree with FTB if the passengers get where they're going on time and are happy that increases the chances they'll fly Delta again and we all get paid and I can buy diapers for my new poop machine

Delta Applies With DOT For Intl Route Dormancies — Civil Aviation Forum | Airliners.net

Delta applied with the DOT today for host of dormancy waivers.
The carrier advises due to difficult market conditions it is unable to fully operate its authorized international frequencies and request a waiver beyond the standard 90-day dormancy period.
Markets the carrier is currently requesting relief in are:

o 5 weekly US – China frequencies until September 1, 2012 (2 of 7 frequencies currently used on ATL-PVG)
o 7 weekly US – China frequencies and extension of startup of Tokyo – Guangzhou service until June 1, 2012
o 4 weekly US – South Africa frequencies (via Dakar) until August 31, 2012
o Waiver on use of one US – Russia seasonal authority until September 1, 2012. (utilized on ATL-SVO)

Delta also requested the modification of select frequencies from year-round to seasonal only use.

o Conversion 4 weekly US - China frequencies from year-round to seasonal basis effective September 2011 to be utilized in reducing DTW / SEA – PEK services.
