Supposedly the stupid beacon trigger may be going away after all this merger stuff is done. Absolutely rediculous and definitely saves the company money. Should be like NWA...drop the brake and reset it with the doors close and you're on the clock.
Cleared for chock removal, I'm on the clock.

So what is with this rumor of 1200 furloughs and the rumor of displacing all wholly owned DCI jet captains as part of that furlough?

Speaking of good deals going away........second hand info from a guy who flew with the 757 fleet capt, guess we are going to keep the split between domestic and international on the 757. Won't be much of a choice for me, but it was nice having the flexability to pickup a quick domestic trip if I needed to.

Keeping 'em split is a good thing which is rapidly dissolving at DAL-S

Well a few the LCA's that I have flown with in the last month have done it. It is a technique. Just like using Auto brakes 1.
Here at DAL a lot of "Just technique" turns in to School house standards. We all need to realize what is a technique and what is not.
I have had a few LCA pilots try to tell me that a technique is a procedure. I then ask to see where in Vol 1, or the FOM it is published. Shall is passive and Will is mandatory.
For some reason they are really big in the legal definition of what "is" is but we all forget it.
Now, as for the Speed brakes, where does it say that you cannot disarm them that way. It is like a CA reaching up and turning them off. As far as I know it is one of the many ways to disarm them, and I cannot find where that technique is prohibited......
Now if you go and leave the A/T's on until touchdown in a 756 they might have a beef.

Oh yea, if you f... up, I don't care who's buying the beer as long as we are drinking beer.

Using the speedbrakes to disarm the autobrakes is almost standard practice on the 757/767. You apply pedal pressure to try and match the braking rate and bump the handle down a inch and you get a very smooth transition to manual braking.
The issue is that the FAA could consider it a configuration change on the runway which is not allowed since you are also lowering the spoilers just a bit. Normally this is done around 80 knots and has no aerodynamic effect but it has been a issue and has bit one Delta crew with the FAA.

I'm just a sailing,
Some dudes busted my butt for that in training a few back. I was happy that's all they saw me do wrong!
