That made me laugh. It reminded me of a first date I had. We went out to dinner and I paid and left the tip. The service was so so at best.

She said: "the tip wasn't big enough."
I said: "The correct response was thank you for dinner. If the tip wasn't big enough, dig deep in your purse and make it big enough."

Been happily married for many years. The tone was set on the 1st date. And yes, I know I'm an A-hole, but I try not to be and I dont mean it that way...etc.

Does Emirates have a fuel cost advantage being owned by the Royal Family of an oil empire? Or maybe just when they refuel in Dubai?

In other words, does Emirates pay what Delta pays for a pound of fuel in JFK, CDG, and DXB?

It's not just fuel. Emirates is government-owned, so the government is there to help them, not regulate every tiny aspect of their operation (good thing we're deregulated, huh?). No flyers rights groups, no EEOC, and they can hire FAs that help them sell their marketing image.

Why does Delta exist? Like every other business, to make money. At Emirates, that isn't the point. It's as much about branding the UAE across the world, and diversifying their economy beyond just oil. If they lose a few bucks on a ticket but bring people to the UAE to open their wallets, who cares?

I wasn't sure which one was more appropriate to the thought of having to go back to school. :)

Not likely. Their pilots get paid what we do, but with no taxes. Their Capt's make about 11K a month plus free housing in the Kingdom and free healthcare. Most my friends that work their average about nine days off a month, they see every weird place on earth, and have an upgrade of about five years. Did I mention that most are trying to leave versus sign another five year contract.

I meant more that they don't have room for all the WB's they're ordering. How do they plan on filling them all? It's like they're banking on cabatoge. If they had their way they'd already have a hub in Montreal, Vancouver, NYC, & LAX.

They are on the Chinese plan. All they have to do is wait out the cash strapped failing governments and they will have their in.

I was thinking about a Venti coffee at Starbucks or a couple of hot wheels cars for my kid.
