Hey guys I need some advice for my bid next month. I'm being MD to the DC9 and training starts Feb 12th, is there any advantage or disadvantage to bidding x days before or after training pay wise, or will I get 70 hrs no matter what?
-Thanks

I think the key is the advance letter BEFORE you have the work done.

No matter how you look at it, it's gone downhill. Had a root canal and crown done 9 years ago under old plan (80/20 split) - approx $200 out of pocket on $1000 bill. Just had the same done under new plan - over $650 out of pocket due to only 50% coverage. Have not had a problem finding quality dentists.

Since you will already have 30+ hours of credit from training you can bid max credit in an attempt to get more pay, but you'll have to fly the trips on your schedule since they'd before training starts. You may want to tell PBS max credit or bust, that way you won't get stuck with a 66 hour line. The down side is if you are awarded a max credit line, your schedule may be front loaded with trips just before training.

A marker is there and you can still see building foundations. Mostly subdivisions now though where the field was.

I hear ya, ive seen that old airport and that makes sense because I think it was larger. And most training airports had the triangle setup but Moton never looked like it was built that way, maybe it was. But there's some sort of old barracks and hangar at Moton field that you could walk up to. Not sure but I always assumed by the age and ivy on it that it was theirs but this was back in the late 90s. If it was theirs it literally looks like it hasn't been touched since. Kind of cool. Better than going to a castle only to find out it was modified hundreds of times in hundreds of years, this looked mostly untouched although it probably was used well after.

I had heard the airport you talk about was where they did training and B25 training but not sure if that was correct or not.

One thing about Moton field is I never went there at night for landings, we had someone nail a deer there on a touch n go but I found people used it for drag racing, sometimes with their lights off so as not to be seen. It was mostly unattended there.

I DO like who he appointed. It's the way he goes about nearly everything he does that ticks me off. To think that this "appointment" is a "win", is extremely short-sighted. .....

Speaking of politics, anyone want to tell us what massive military budget cuts may do to Delta pilot staffing? For example maybe cuts in charter, or guys on MLOA returning (no hiring needed) to a lot of MIL on next hiring trickle which many thought wouldn't happen.

Insiders have any thoughts on what may happen?
