Except one, when talking to a 17 year old just please understand that they don't know what a pension is and if they did they probably know enough not to trust a pension to last. Stupid question ... does MLOA reduce the number of star days you receive if sitting reserve?

Example ... February has 29 reserve days for the month which according to the chart allows for 12 "X" days. If you have MLOA scheduled, does it reduce your reserve days and thus your "X" days?

Yes and yes--there's a chart at the beginning of every bid package I always skip over (and it's probably in the contract) that shows how many X days you receive per number days of availability.

i believe rahc is correct regarding next month being a 30-day bid period.

I generally add mil leave after the bids come out...because my reserve schedule isn't terribly firm that far out, and waiting helps me manage those variables better. I can then bid x-days for mil leave if I choose (or not). I don't abuse mil leave, but I'm also not going to hose myself if I can legally/morally avoid it.
