Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?
Who's coming to my super bowl party??
Just to add some fuel to the hiring conspiracy. I went to the delta career page. How long has the second paragraph said this:
I thought we said before we weren't hiring, but we were looking at apps or words to that effect.
It’s time for your pre-flight check. Delta Air Lines is looking for pilot candidates who meet our high standards of aviator skills, safety, professionalism, and customer focus. If you are interested in joining our team of professional pilots, you may apply or update your existing application via AirlineApps.com.
One sentence says "our current staffing levels will need to be adjusted to meet needs.". Hmmmmm...
Seems pretty clear they are going to displace off the wide-bodies in order to fill the M88 needs.
You guys on M88 vacation (the company calls it reserve, but sounds like a vacation) better put down those Coronas and living life like a beer commercial. Start practicing your flying, like this guy.
As for hiring. Well - I read and reread the newsletter. I can't see any hint of hiring in it. They sort of left the possibility of DC9s in DTW being still around, but only because Network hasn't decided about 2013 capacity.

Perhaps you're both correct.
In my initial read, they seem to want to get the short term plus up from the WB ranks for the MD88/90 but, if there is any truth to the rumor of keeping the 9s a little longer and if there is truly a wave of hiring in our future, they wouldn't want to swap the training department with a massive wave of displacements.
So, this might lead to hiring. Of course, that is assuming anyone with an MBA is capable of thinking strategically as opposed to tactically.

Anyone who thought that we were moving up the ladder has got to realize that we're going backward. When the company is displacing off the higher-paying equipment to lower-paying equipment, that's not positive movement.
Thread creep...
I have been downloading my schedule from icrewmax into a .ics file then into ical. This then went into my icloud and iphone. It worked until today, now it won't show up on icloud. Am i missing something? Thanks

Loved the "reduced rest after a redeye" paragraph near the end.
The company will drag its feet on implementing pilot-positive aspects of the new rules (i.e., no 24-hr int'l SC), but is falling over itself to figure out a way to fast-track less rest after a redeye.
Unbelievable.
