You guys have convinced me. The DL/NW merger screwed us all. I mean let's look at the two major carriers that missed out on this last round of consolidation: AMR and LCC. They are just burning it up, their pilots are getting massive raises, their airlines are growing like mad, they are getting huge profit sharing checks and their futures are super bright. Man I wish we were just like them.
You left out the part about how if ALPA screws that up again they are off the property.:D |

What you forget is we both had WB jets and could do a overall category status SLI. A NKS, B6, ALK, etc does not have those seats so a pure category status would probably not be the way it would go down.
I'm not complaining about our list at all. As Bar points out, the arbitrator correctly called what happened and the ratio done accordingly. I think it's naive to think it won't go that way again. I have no dog in this fight as I'll be long gone........just looking into my crystal ball. Ferd (my last post on the issue - my new year's resolution was no serious posts on here.......underboob and flash mobs only:D) |

Give the boys credit, that's a pretty slick idea, sky writing with a 787:

Yeah, and don't they know that businessmen would rather have FREQUENCY on smaller, tighter planes than have a few choices per day on larger, more roomy planes? Everyone KNOWS that.
Spirit A320: 178 pax, 17" seat width, 28" pitch DAL A320: 148 pax, 17" seat width, 31-32" pitch That 3-4 inch pitch increase makes a difference if you are taller than 5'5". |

At the risk of reigniting this whole SLI thing, which I really DON'T want to do, let me simply state my personal history:
Roughly 900+ original DAL pilots hired after me were put on the list in front of me, and every single one of them is younger than me. I didn't like it then, I'm not thrilled about it now, and it got me permanently displaced from my left seat. It is also water under the bridge. It is pointless to expend energy over something you have zero control over. Did you get displaced out of the left side simply due to the SLI or by how the company moved airplanes around? How did your side gain a little by relative and still lose simply by the SLI? |
Has anyone been following the results of the DPA pay raise survey with instant results? Almost 800 people have already taken it and it's only been open a day.

I am sure. It is a great deal for senior pilots the way it used to be. We got what we wanted, and not we are not happy with it. The good deal of sitting reserve on a bigger jet for the junior guys is going. It respects seniority. Not good for me personally, but good for the pilots that want reserve to respect seniority, as it should.

Boy that logo to the right of the 787 looks an awful lot like the neon sign at LGB...
