Any "Latest & Greatest" about Delta?

The number of 777 at 35-50 is something that has been thrown around for some time. If you want a good answer as the Fleet Manager. He stated a while ago that if they could get their hands on used 777 they would be buying at least double what they are planning now.
Let hope that they can do that.

Not to pour any water on the thread but Anderson said in his town hall meeting he's planning on a total of 25 within the next 3 years. Thats not 50, but its a heck of a lot better than 8!

I have been searching the thread, and I could not find the post about aircraft basing at DAL. Is the 777 only out of ATL and New York?

Not water poured. The 777 number keeps going up. Earlier this year it was 15 now it is 25. Hopefully they can get more on the used market that make sense for DAL.
Either way, 25 777 is a heck of a lot of movement with 16 Captains per a/c.

ACL: The 5 757's, 10 737's and 777's are all very good. But, I'm hearing 10 MD88's coming out of the fleet in 08. More CRJ700/900's coming to backfill and the MD90's put off, again. Confirmation, update? Big airplane rowth is good for us 07 hires, but upgrade slots are better still.
I'm concerned about Delta's increasing reliance on BIG RJ's to catch the MD88 flying in a downturn. Is the CRJ700/900 going to do the same thing to the MD88's that the CRJ200/EMB145 did to the 737-200's. APA seems to have the right idea - to capture that flying.

That rumor has been going on for at least 10 years. I would not worry too much if I was going for the interview now, since I doubt they will change to the extent that todays study guides becomes useless. Nevertheless, prepare for the worst and hope for the best as always!
On January 7, 2008 the Job Knowledge Test question bank will increase significantly. The process and grading will remain the same but the large bank of questions available for random selection will negate the effectiveness of memorizing answers. The best way to prepare for the revised test is to understand the concepts, terms and procedures from which the answers can be derived.
To assist in preparing for the Job Knowledge Test, Delta Pilot Selection has published a study guide in PDF format which may be accessed through Airlineapps.com. A link to this guide is published below.

Where have you heard this? I'm on the 88 and I talk to people all the time.....the ATL CP, the 88 CLCP, the Fleet Captain, several sim instructors, union officials, etc, and I have heard nothing about 88s coming out of the fleet.... other than the 2-3 going back to lessors that were already announced.
By the way, the -900s are tied to mainline fleet growth. So if 88s come out of the fleet it would offset the -700s and 777s coming in and limit the number of new -900s they could get. I don't buy it.
