I hope we ALL understand that there is no way to definitively characterize ANY airframe as a "growth" airframe. The reason is that we have no idea whether management will decide to park other aircraft the very next day.

There can be no leverage for "growth airframes" unless you are a hopeless sucker. Whether new or used, airframes depend on whether management wants to buy and keep them. Nothing we accept in a contract will change that management calculation.

Saw it happen this afternoon. Apparently the ole -9 is a slow climber on one motor. Just imagine if that was Carl...the dreaded 3 engine approach

As for the bolded part, there are very little "penalties" to Delta with getting out of the RJ contracts other than having to continue to pay the leases they are already paying. What concerns me more than that are the "legal exposure" to DALPA/ALPA from doing something on our end to "harm" the ALPA RJ pilots. Apparently we can sit back and let the entire profession get hammered and that's cool but if we try and bring things up on our end someone's gonna sue.
The way out of that is for the members to vote NO on any TA that doesn't begin to reverse scope. If the members vote NO, it allows DALPA to say to management and the MEC's of our regional competitors: "Hey we did everything we could...but our members overruled us. Go sue them."

Just a question for the analytical types: The 739 has decent legs, but what would we be doing with an etops version? It can't make it to europe can it?
Anything intra-Asia that could need ETOPS? GUM-NRT? SPN-NRT? ...and any other possible future routes in that region.

According to Boeing it can just make London form JFK so a few other Western European airports are possible. It would probably work pretty good from KBOS. Not sure how winds would affect it.

West coast to Hawaii might be a better fit.

From the Boeing site:

Boeing: Commercial Airplanes - 737 - Range Charts

I will vouch for the 700s awesome range - I know guys who have ferried from Hawaii to JAX non-stop with re-dispatch and guys routinely do HNL to DFW, Ok actually NFW

Scoop - Thinks most DAL Captains are awesome - even the guys who don't buy the beer!

So previous company news was no hiring until maybe 2015. RA has a bunch of good news. It sure seems like mind-screwing during negotiations. What say y'all.

Not my take, he's very bullish on Delta and the future and proud of his company. However!!!!! He constantly makes reference to AA/APA negotiations and says if they would have agreed to 4%/year when they started negotiations they would have already had 30%. There was also a lot of other info put out I am loathe to put on a public forum.

Yep, can always vote NO. Hopefully pilots aren't afraid to, I know this one is not.
