+100% totally agree. Lets hope he decides to do more work on behalf of this group as well.

Furthermore, he's right. Not sure why people have the expectation for a Capt to do anything but what his job duties are. I also could care less if he shows off his stuff. I am glad that he has been successful. I will never own a boat, plane etc, but that does not mean that he/she should shy away from being happy about it. If they need to fly to 65 to pay for it, again, its their right. I just believe we have to quit sweating this small stuff. There is a huge career earnings gap between junior and senior. It is what it is. We have to move on from getting mad that someone has done better than we will do in this career. It is counterproductive.

Lets focus on a great contract.

At SLC, in my experience, it's 50% on the walk arounds--I've been briefed by virtually every Capt that the guy not flying does the walk arounds. I've flow with 1 single guy, ever, who didn't do the walk arounds on the FO legs.

I usually get them on any leg there's time, ie not a 20 min turn due to late. I will concur however, that the SLC Capts are a touchdown across the board. And I'd say that most all of them have offered to buy a beer for me. Anyways, just another data point of opinion, great Capts in SLC, always enjoy the trip.
I did not know that anyone in SLC could drink!

Wasn't my comment pretty obviously a joke? No offense was intended.

Besides, this form of communication is a pretty well established and mutually beneficial way for pilots and management to remain engaged without having to hold things back until it is safe to formally commit a proposal to paper.

Haven't flown the 717, but it's a lot like the MD-90, just more automated (technically an MD-95). I enjoy the -90, but I prefer the A320/319. The Airbus is much more integrated, automated, easier to fly, and roomier with a table & 2 jumpseats up front. The APU cools the aircraft immediately. The systems are a "lights out" philosophy, so if you don't see a light illuminated, then the system is working properly. You can fly the Airbus as manual as desired, just need to fight complacency.

thats how it works when newKnow flys, music magically plays over the speakers once he takes the controls. I've seen it first hand, it was magical

i thought it was funny and creative.

And I knew it was a joke because LCA rumors dont mean what they used to.

havent flown the 717 but have flown the -9 a couple different times, while the Airbus is comfortable and easy to fly, i'd much rather fly the 717 on the missions delta is flying the airbus on right now. Delta is flying the bus like an -9 on short routes and i wasnt a fan towards the end of my time on the bus. Back when i was on it under NWA we were doing longer range stuff and it was more enjoyable imho. Since theres no IFE on them Delta swapped out those longer routes with 737's.
