Nothing against anyone but I have to ask, since the only extra curricular I had in HS was football and after college I had a 2 year employment gap. Am I going to be washed out of the interview process before it even starts?

Hot off the presses from a buddy that was successful today. Good week overall with 12 of 12 Tuesday, 8 of 12 Wednesday and 9 of 11 Thursday. Congrats to all.

Octagon,
You will want to think outside the box a little bit on this. Have you done any volunteer work, charity, etc... If you have kids you may have helped in the classroom or spoke at career day. Did you do scouts as a kid? If you were in the military look back at your performance reports for community service stuff. Even stratifications such as "#1 of XX officers/pilots/CGOs". You probably have stuff that you haven't thought of in a while.

If you don't have any other stuff I don't think you will be "washed out" of the process. The "extra curricular" stuff is a discriminator when all other things are equal. What I mean is, if you have the same pilot credentials as another candidate; but, the other candidate was an Eagle Scout, he will get scored higher on the application.

Good luck!

So not playing school sports because I lived in BFE and had to work on the farm is a negative? Working to get through college looks worse than having parents pay for it and having time for clubs and sports?

Hearing this is just plain frustrating.

There are people who paid for their college, played sports, worked, and graduated in 4 years.... They do exist.

Your not going to be washed out. It is just a way to separate you from the pack and get you noticed sooner. Anything different or unique is good.

Working in college means something don't worry.

I've scoured airline apps and don't see a good place to put volunteering information. Where are you guys putting it?

I got two fix-it emails 8 months ago. One was to add my flight schools that I attended in college the other was to fix my flight history on my application...it's been crickets since which is a bad sign. The trend it seems is if you're going to get an invite after the fix-it email is it happens a few days to weeks after. I'm not giving up on Delta cause it's really where I want to be. I've had aerocrew go through my app with me and multiple other dudes from my squadron. I update often and continue to build my resume in hopes of receiving the interview invite.
