Totally agree! Unfortunately, ALPA has proven they will not do this. From my perspective, ALPA's lack of a restorative objective is the biggest part of the reason this profession is as you say, "still so far behind, long ways to go!"

Getting back more on topic... Really glad to see new hires coming to Delta and looking forward to flying with you! :)

Then vote 'NO' on the next TA too. I guarantee you'll be outnumbered by people who are willing to make incremental gains towards restoration, vice the DPA (clown club) strategy of 'wanting it all back now.'

Sorry you're too close to retirement to make those 'incremental gains'. Maybe you should've made better decisions earlier on in life?

Probation begins the first day you report for your class date. It ends at the earlier of:
1. 400 hours of block time (inclusive of OE),
2. completion of 12 months of aggregate service, or
3. conversion to a Captain position

GJ,
Show a little class. Personal attacks and "scourge, clown club, do-not" type characterizations do not win friends or influence people.

Agree or disagree, 88 drvr beats the educational drum. He is a strategic planning committee of one with no insider information. He doesn't have the best legal minds in the business, an EF&A or $100K secretaries at his beck and call.

He is not your enemy, just the recipient of broken promises. I'd bet a paycheck he wears his uniform like he's supposed to and flies like he's supposed to.

I agree with all of that. My hope is that he picks up a shovel in the real world as well. Constantly venting here about how he wants 70%+ to recoup the losses may be therapeutic for 88, but it's not putting more money in my pocket.

Saying that ALPA should just state it as a goal and it will be so is naive at best. Why didn't anyone think of that before? All we had to do was be a little tougher? Set clearer goals? Piece of cake right?

I've not met one "ALPA guy" that wouldn't love to have C2K+ tomorrow. Railing against those that are trying to make things better is counterproductive IMO.

Queue the cute ALPA and DPA acronyms

You don't know me or know anything about the "decisions" I've made in my life. That is one of the most classless (and ignorant) personal attacks I've seen here. Integrity is important (intellectual and otherwise). I would suggest you give that some serious thought and do some self reflection. Good luck.

This thread was started for new hires. Let's keep the thread positive and get it back on track.

Class dates

Can anyone say what class dates have been locked down and numbers? Thanks!

You're right, I don't know you, but from what you've posted above:

Unfortunately, ALPA has proven they will not do this. From my perspective, ALPA's lack of a restorative objective is the biggest part of the reason this profession is as you say, "still so far behind, long ways to go!"
it's obviously ALPA's fault "this profession is still so far behind." It has NOTHING to do with the corporate forced bankruptcies, economic recession, and/or failed business models of yesterday's airlines. You ask me to be intellectually honest? GMAFB!! Quit coming on this forum and posting nothing but $h!t & constant garbage about it being all ALPA's fault that the pilot profession is where it's at today. Those comments (posts) are about as ignorant & elementary as Carl's bashing of TSquare's longevity based pay (LBP) model, & then being classless enough to refer to it as being associated with the LGBT rights of individuals.

[QUOTE]That is one of the most classless (and ignorant) personal attacks I've seen here[QUOTE]

Again, reference above paragraph. It's ignorant & classless to prove someone wrong, on an anonymous web board, but not ignorant & classless to keep coming on the forum & posting the garbage (yes, it's garbage) that you & the other staunch DPA supporters post? What's wrong? You can no longer go to the 'hangar talk' section if the D-ALPA forum to spew your DOA garbage, so you've decided to deficate on this forum instead?

Integrity is important (intellectual and otherwise). I would suggest you give that some serious thought and do some self reflection.
I feel quite comfortable with the integrity (intellectual & otherwise) that I have, good sir. It starts with a person (ME, YOU, & ALL THE OTHER DELTA PILOTS) taking responsibility for their(our) own actions. It involves holding OURSELVES (independently & as a group), ACCOUNTABLE FOR OUR current & previous actions!! NOT THE EASY (Oliver North, Iran-Contra-Esque) scapegoat we choose to point fingers at, otherwise known as D-ALPA.

Frankly, you don't need to respond to my post. I'm done posting, I'm done reading, and this forum is being deleted from my computer. We used to have fun on this forum posting underboob on Friday night's & college football stats (along with more underboob) on Saturday's.

Now it's turned into a bunch of old & angry airline pilots biatching that they're not making what they were making in 2001 & that someone better ask for a 48% pay raise IMMEDIATELY, or by-golly we're switching bargaining agents & going on strike!! (Again, remember your comment about intellectual integrity, Einstein?)

So, good day, sir. Safe travels to you, & if you were to take anything from this post, just remember one thing. Whatever bad things happen to you in life, start by having some 'introspection', instead of posting on an anonymous web board how it's always someone else's fault.

P.S. Sorry for the deviation from the original Ops post. Back to our regularly scheduled programming of "Delta Pilot Poolies." :)
