Does Delta provide uniforms to new hires? If they don't, what is the approximate cost for the complete uniform set? Thanks.

I just priced one in the ATL A concourse pilot store, it was about $225, just for the jacket, a new hat was about $59. I got a new pair of black pants on sale at JC Penny for about $40. Google "Pilot Pete's uniform supplies", it's an online uniform store, run by a Delta Pilot. I got 3 shirts there for about $16 each. $400 should cover everything, assuming you already have black shoes. |

They never have in the past, for pilots. There will be a uniform salesman there to tell you what to get. Most Navy guys can use their black pants, shoes, and double breasted jacket, just have to change out the buttons and put three stripes on the sleeves. Us AF guys had to buy a double breasted jacket, not cheap.

Word of advice: The quality of Abbott's uniforms is considerably better than the quality of Crew Outfitters. I think Abbott's price is a little higher, but the coat will last a lot longer and in the long run be a better value. I also think Abbott's is pretty good at fitting and doing the alterations. Not too impressed with Abbott's pants. (I'm guessing Crew Outfitters would be even worse.) The pants won't last all that long. When it comes time to replace, I'd take the coat into a Men's Warehouse or one of the big department stores and buy a quality pair of pants that match. If you can find them on sale, they will cost you less AND you'll have a better quality pair of pants that will last longer.
Abbott is high quality but expensive. M & H, very nice quality. Good Prices and Good support. I wear both Abbott and M & H. I returned my Outfitter products, they are real flimsy. M & H just opened a local store by our Doubletree Hotel in ATL. Next to the Quiznos. The manager was formerly from Crew Outfitters. She is very nice and will tailor/size for free. Good prices. TEN |

Abbott's quality is far superior, but don't expect wonderful customer service. I just retired the last of my 3 initial sets of pants I got in a package deal from them back in early 2007- the seat of all 3 eventually wore out, but after 6.5 years of use. The jacket still looks new. They've been replaced by pants I got at Kohls for 20 dollars. Way better deal for the pants there! My tie has held up fine, and I got a hat from bancroft which has held up as well. FWIW- I just snagged the Hush Puppies loafers from the DTW stop-over-store. By far my favorite uniform shoes I've ever owned. I'd recommend those to anyone. |
