CJOs are good for 18 months so even the very first OTS hires wouldn't expire til April 2015. That said, for the guys who need work before that, they may not be able to wait in the pool nearly that long and could depart for another job. One guy in my interview class from Oct already did that.

I think the doom and gloom may come from the reality that RA has not given approval for more than the original 300 pilots (including furloughed pilots). While most in the flight ops management seem to think this will have to go higher, as of today it has not. (Per very good source)
As was wisely stated above, you are not "hired" until you are in class with a badge. Maybe the realization that you personally can do nothing to change or speed up the process will ease your mind. With all the airplanes that are arriving in the next 2 years, I can't imagine that every one of you will not be hired before your 18 months are up. |
