Abbott's quality is far superior, but don't expect wonderful customer service.

I dunno... Last year, the dumber of my two dogs locked herself in our closet with her tail. Of all the things she decided to freak out and shred, she got my collection of my Grandpa's vintage ties and my Uniform Coat... three days before a trip. I was able to go to Abbott's that day to get fitted and picked up my coat on the way to the airport 3 days later. The $300 + gas money got deducted from the dog's lifetime vet budget, but I thought their service was quite good.

So what you are sayin is financially it was a wash.

I like Abbotts shirts. I usually pick up a new one every recurrent. They wear like iron. I buy aftermarket pants.

I'm in the market for a new jacket. Path of least resistance is Abbotts.

Maybe. I still have the dog and I still have the new jacket, but the jacket stops bothering me once I get home. The dog, not so much.

As for jackets, I have a lightly chewed one I'd be willing to let go for cheap.

fmrfreightdog- That was mine and my newhire classmates experience about their customer service. Maybe they've gotten better with the additional competition from M&H since the merger?

I almost forgot the shirts- there are no better shirts than what they make!

FWIW- I just snagged the Hush Puppies loafers from the DTW stop-over-store. By far my favorite uniform shoes I've ever owned. I'd recommend those to anyone.

I agree. I'm on my 2nd pair of Hush Puppies and they've been great. Very comfortable. Good selection on Amazon / Zappos.

They're not the cheapest option, but you're going to spend a lot of time in those shoes. pony up.

I'm on my first pair of Ecco's. By far the most comfortable uniform shoe I've ever worn (almost as comfortable as my running shoes). They look great. And from what I understand, they're very durable. If I get 5 to 10 years out of them (which it sounds like I should), then the price will have actually been a good value.

But they're expensive for a pair of shoes. $200. Probably not in the budget for a new hire.

Edit: Whoa... I was curious and just did an internet search for these shoes. Found them on Amazon for a really good price. Wish they had this deal when I was buying mine! Ecco Birmingham

I buy the $60 slip on shoes in the ATL flight crew store or whatever that place is called. They last two years before the lost souls come to haunt me.

Word of advice: The quality of Abbott's uniforms is considerably better than the quality of Crew Outfitters. I think Abbott's price is a little higher, but the coat will last a lot longer and in the long run be a better value. I also think Abbott's is pretty good at fitting and doing the alterations. Not too impressed with Abbott's pants. (I'm guessing Crew Outfitters would be even worse.) The pants won't last all that long. When it comes time to replace, I'd take the coat into a Men's Warehouse or one of the big department stores and buy a quality pair of pants that match. If you can find them on sale, they will cost you less AND you'll have a better quality pair of pants that will last longer.

Get the jacket at Abbots for sure but their pants did not last. I think I bought three and they were done for me within three years. Now pants I bought at Kohls have lasted me a long while and they wash easy.

Plus one for the kohls pants. They have the stretchy waste too. For those who are short (me) and/or those who work out (me) I recommend this place.

Pilot Shirts - Men's Fitted Pilot Shirt

The fitted shirts are really comfortable. The standard shirts at the other stores are just to long and baggy.

I have the hush puppies as well. Lucky for me my sister in law sends a new pair every year. She works for wolverine worldwide. I have more shoes and boots than Imelda Marcos.

Do the Kohl's pants match our jacket? I need new pants and I really don't want to spend $90 on Abbott's pants that don't last more than a couple years.
