Ok, Ok...apparently I touched a nerve with my somewhat tongue in cheek complaint about the duration of the pool. It was more of a commentary of being told "late July or early August" becoming November, December, or 2016. I'm sure you are all banking $100k "just in case" and good on you...but lighten up, dang!

Exactly. Easy does it fellas, we have no idea of montellvs family situation.

He's done more than 99% of our countrymen to help provide for our common good so let's give him a break and avoid cheapshots. Transitioning to the private sector is stressful enough whether you got vsp, a retirement, or nothing; so train your fire on something more substantial than a fellow officer.

Fellas......
This is not the first time this has happened. I was hired Oct 13, told expect to be in class Jan 14. Then got an email saying do to training capacity, compass flows, SSP slots, I would probably not start until Oct-Nov14. I got the call a week later with a mar 14 class date. Bottom line, things change like hourly. I know you have heard it before.

everyone wants to start ASAP. I get it, I did too. Whether you are retired mil, regional, guard/reserve, or corporate, you want to get on the list and get some cash. With that bring said, The hard part is over! enjoy this time. Spend time with the wife and the kids! For those coming from the mil side, the transition/training is an asskicker. It doesn't leave much time for the fam. It was like UPT light. So..... hang in there, grow a sweet beard, chase the Mrs. Around the house, sleep in, drink beer. You will be here before you know it.

congrats on getting here and Cya soon!

I have also heard of folks who don't need to give a 2-week notice ask to be put on a "quick-call/dropout" list. You never know when somebody might cancel or have to postpone a class start because of one of life's little surprises.

I feel for you Montell, even with money management aside. I have several friends in your position. I interviewed in April and got into the last class of 60 on 15 Jun. I only waited 60 days for a class date and I was antsy as hell. I feel for you guys that got told one thing and it ended up being handed another. Everyone wants to be able to plan their life.

This is a good and early lesson in the fluctuations that I'm sure our decades long career with Delta will have plenty of.

Everyone else, Montell is venting. Don't worry Montell, this is the poolie thread, this is a safe place. Swimmers helping swimmers. Don't hold his head under the water.
