Headsets are provided on the plane. On the 7ER I would say 50% use their own. Wait until you are on the line for awhile and see what kind you like.

I am a June CJO and just had a msg from Airline Apps about my account expiring. Any words on if we actually have to keep it active until we get the call for a class? Sorry if I missed this in a previous post. Thanks.

The ones provided on the plane are David Clark Greenies with one earpiece. They can be uncomfortable but not terrible. There are three sets on every plane so you have a few choices. I intend to get my own, but I haven't decided on which kind yet. I'm on the 73 and it's pretty noisy. I have see a lot of variety in the headsets the other guy has had so far.

Bottom line is, you don't need to rush into a purchase if you don't know what you want. The included ones will get you by.

Just be sure to put it away when you're done, please:p

I can't see any reason you'd be required to keep it active, you already have a CJO. Personally, I would keep it active if you have your app in with UAL. Until you are in class with a seniority number, you just never know.

It depends on the plane. The 717 doesn't have the DCs, we've got the lightweight telex headsets. Very comfortable, but as soon as I hit 18k I take it off and just use the speaker and hand mic. Even more comfortable.

Ah, that sounds nice.

OK got a question for those with more experience than I: what's your definition of "put away"? At my old shop, "put away" meant unplugged, cord wrapped and hung on the window handle or the box behind the CAs seat. Had one CA say that drove him nuts cause now HE has to move it. Next CA (literally) said he hates when guys take it off the handle cause now he has to go on an Easter egg hunt for a headset. I've settled on leaving a company headset in the hole with the books on the FO side but have had to dig in the black bag, the cubby by the jumpseat, the cabinet over the P61 panel, etc. to find a headset. What's the generally accepted etiquette for us "company headset" users, at least on the 7ER?

Lots of unfilled NYC 320,737, 717 and 88 on this last bid. I would be prepared for that if I was in the pipeline, which of course isn't really "new" news.
