Good question. Here is the table with just pilots in general.
http://i938.photobucket.com/albums/a...psfa04f4af.png There is a DTW 777 A that sits in top 500, hired at 23, only 52 now, 13 more years to go to hit a 42 year career. Impressive. I was not the baby in my class, I was 26, as was one other guy and a few in the two classes ahead of us. The baby in our class was 24. But there were two geezers in my class, they were both 34! One retired just prior to the bankruptcy, the other is still here and about 62 now. 6 pilots from my new hire class left prior to the bankruptcy, the rest are still here....and all but one are still senior to me! When I was growing up, most of my airline pilot/instructors and mentors told me you had to get hired before you turned 28, or you were considered too old. I was bumming when I turned 25 and wasn't hired yet...but none of the Majors were hiring then, so all I could do was keep flying night freight and KC135's and wait for a call. Of course we didn't have this fancy Internet thingy to get all the interview gouge. :D North West was sued in about 1991 for age discrimination by some guys who were interviewed but not hired in the mid 1980's, they were in their 40's when interviewed. The pilots won, and NW had to re interview and hire a bunch of them (58 of them I think?), and give them date of hire from their original interviews. |

Just flew with one last week. Great guy and a lurker here. Matter of fact the last 3 FO's I've flown with are APC lurkers. All great guys.
UOTE=forgot to bid;1576040]Sort of, there are a few 2010 hires that haven't even hit 30 yet. There is an 07 hire from 2007 that is 32, hired at 25.[/QUOTE] |

That didn't stop them in 07/08 when new hires went straight to the ER in NYC.

Is that because most of the classes are Flows, that have been flying RJ's for 20 years?
Or are they retired Mil, or both?

I know that when I was a new hire I had the choice of the -88 or the 7ER. I took the -88 for the base available. When they brought in the manuals, I knew I had made the right choice. My box had about a 12 pack of beer sized manual stack, but the 7ER guys had a box the size of a keg full of manuals.
And that is why the -88 is better than the 7ER..... ;) It sounded like they may put the ER slots out again in the AE coming in the next several weeks. Patience will show us the answer. |

Actually there are two of those. BD and CF they are a month apart in age.
BD is the one I was talking about, with his banner towing story.:D |
