Got the email myself a few minutes ago. I feel you pain, but appreciate the email from Arnie. I'm grateful to be in the pool, but it's rough seeing the goal posts keep getting moved. FWIW guys in my interview were told to expect a June class at the latest. Based on the numbers as they stand by Mr Kraby it's looking like October. For the guys in the know at Delta do the vacancies posted by 80knotsclamp support more of the current 300 a year prediction or more of the rumored 600?

I think the most important part of this email is the acknowledgement that they expect all current CJO's to expect a date at some point in 2014. The flows will reset/start over again in January 2015, and anyone not in class by the end of 2014 might have problems with the 18 month expiration date.
I read this that Delta is aware of the expiration date and that they don't expect it to be an issue - which is a reassuring thing for those in the pool. |

Why the thumbs down? That's good news that it looks probable for increasing hiring beyond 300!

The only thing I took away from this was that there is no increase from 300 in the foreseeable future.
i.e. No movement from pool until September. |

i.e. No movement from pool until September. That's okay, though. At least it's some info. |

i.e. No movement from pool until September. I'm still happy to be in the pool and I've got the flexibility to hang on waiting for Delta for a while. But as other airlines start hiring it'll be interesting to see how many jump to other opportunities. I'd imagine there are quite a few people who have families, commitments, timelines, and other factors that won't allow them to just hang on for anywhere from 7-11 months (or more?). Definitely not Delta's problem since none of us are "hired" and they'll easily fill the spots if someone bails. But tough for somebody to be in the "hang in there" spot for that long. As somebody alluded to earlier....Don't worry, it'll all change a million more times before it's all settled and there isn't much we can do about it. Ups and downs, just try to enjoy the ride. |
Agreed. Additionally, the fact that they have 250 in the pool and are continuing to schedule interviews suggests that there is likely an increase coming. If interviewing stopped abruptly I'd be considerably more worried.

Delta sent this exact same email to some 2010 CJO recipients, almost word for word. Some are still waiting for a class date. Some are now "probably" going to class up in 2014 behind about 300-400 guys/gals. Some will never set foot on Delta property when their CJO expires...for a second time.

This is strictly my take and not based on any inside info. I think the last minute addition of several pilots to the Feb. 17 class is a very good sign. Arnie Kraby getting a last minute call from up hi tells me that the 4th floor or RA have seen the light (FAR 117 and numerous IROPs) and may be calling for bigger classes sooner.
The latest AE with all the unfilled positions is another good sign. I assume they need those positions filled by summer and therefore must start now. Time will tell but the OTS hiring trend will not go to zero IMO. |
