Profit sharing and stock options are both forms of compensation that is "at risk" based on the company's performance.
Why is profit sharing so good but stock options are bad?

Both are bad. Paychecks are good. It's pretty simple.

CDO's will never happen - The Pilots have spoken and do not want them. If we were to eventually get CDO's we would be going against the majority will of the Pilot group and that will never hap............ disregard. :D

Seriously though, for those who want more pay with less time at work, and who doesn't, I think the 5:15 ADG will be huge - especially for the more junior Pilots who fly more of the crap trips.

Basically this single move will take the leftover crap, some of which gets unstacked in certain categories each month, and make it much more desirable.

The 2100 sign in that returns at 1000 on day three is now worth 15:45 vice 13:30. If you had four of these on your schedule you are now making an extra 9 hours a month!

If it remains in the bid package it will probably go more senior. The company might decide to changes it into a more efficient four day trip.

Either way, many guys will be making more $$$ with less time on the road.

Note: This affects all categories differently.

I think this is huge, but I am a NB FO in the category with some of the worst trips in the system - LAX 73N. A WB category may see absolutely no difference with this change. This change will improve the QOL for those that need it most - those currently flying the crap trips.

And don't forget that all reserves are now paid/credited as line-holders.

Scoop :)

Nothing new about that.

I think the main reason people "feel more flying over this summer" has everything to do with work rule changes. ---> We gave management a gigantic productivity concession when we turned July and August into 30 day months. Along with the higher ALVs, now they can cram more flight hours into fewer days.

July and August have always been the limiting factor at this airline. We gave that away for way too cheap.

In June, July, August of 2012 we averaged 830 pilots above required.

In June, July, August of 2014 we averaged 270 pilots above required.

Don't tell me that is not a major factor in the differences felt this summer, it doesn't make any sense at all. Here is what has happened to the trailing twelve month averages of pilots in excess of pilots required. There is a trend there.

Yep. Very true.

The trend shows that the "pilots above required" increased post contract and then decreased substantially with FAR 117. So thanks... FAA!?

We lost 174 pilots from Dec 2012 to Dec 2013, looks like the drop in "pilots above required" was directly proportional to that seniority list drop and not because C2012 required more pilots.

Stock, stock options. No thank you.

I dislike CDOs.. But if I can do 1 CDO a week (no more flying/trips so in essence 4 CDOs a month) and get paid 90 hours a month---->Then SIGN ME UP!!!

C2015---->Work Less, Get PAID more!!!!

Why do you do this sailingfud? You're wasting everyone's time here with straw men arguments that only you are making.

There was someone on here earlier posted that he had flown with SD and that SD really wanted them. Coupled with the staunch DALPA aficionados (who are normally in lock step with whatever management wants) still pounding their arguments in support of CDO's, it sure makes me think this issue is not dead.

I didn't say he really wanted them: He said he thinks that is a method going forward to make the trip mix more desireable, and that he thinks we'll see them again.

Your proof of this is where?

My reps clearly stated that TA2012 did not meet the requirements set forth in the pilot contract survey. My reps clearly stated that any give backs in profit sharing must be first approved by the MEC. The NC signed off on profit sharing reduction anyway, without that MEC approval. That's the proof I have in support of my contention.
