They could do that anytime they wanted to. No PWA modifications necessary.
I'd be happy if they just do it as you say, but, why give us anything for free if you can get something for it? Never let an aircraft order go to waste. |

I'm still waiting to hear what the "Punch in the face" was, that the LAX council talked about in their letter to their council members.

But add it to the list as "96-seat Embraers at mainline IF you allow more 76 seaters at DCI."

Even though you don't want to give any ideas, I will.... properly staff.

A-ha got it.
Fuel. Fuel. Fuel. I knew fuel was here somewhere.
Here's the transcript of the earnings call. http://ir.delta.com/files/doc_financ...001_y4u7b8.PDF Richard Anderson - page 3, paragraph 4 Paul Jacobson - page 6, paragraph 9 etc. Riddle me this... Fuel is a tailwind in Q3 and Q4? Especially when no one is paying attention in Q2! |

RJs are saving our bacon!!! JVs are saving our bacon!!! Concessions are good! Think of the increase in profit sharing! Oops we reduced that again. But the survey said to keep or increase. Yeah but the line pilots are stupid. We know better. Moak will tell you straight up he thinks RJ's outsourced to low cost providers are good for Delta mainline. Let's apply some logic and flip that around. What if Delta mainline was flying every last RJ up to and including those things that look like A319's. What would that do for union solidarity? (ie pilots not pitted against pilots). What would that do for pilot progression (ie no seniority reset). What would that do for the brand (ie consistency of a superior flying experience vs the competition). How many pilots would currently be on the Delta seniority list? Does anybody know how may RJ pilots we currently have performing Delta flying? If one really ponders what it is Moak believed in and the scope sales that have occurred these past two decades (including purchasing regionals for billions of dollars then selling them for pennies or shutting them down), it really brings into question the ideology/mindset of those running your union. Leadership (what's good for the profession) goes beyond the play of a handful of guys making names for themselves and putting some coin in their pocket (ie "consulting" gigs). Now apply the same logic to out of control JV's with multiple years to go out of compliance and cure periods without defined penalties. The same handful of guys are signing off on this stuff. Is that representing the desires of stagnant Delta pilots? Asinine at best. While some "code" may be acceptable, Delta becoming a ticket broker for international flying is not. Fair to say, Moak in the end, showed through his actions where his true loyalties lie. There are others just like Moak making a name for themselves in hopes of "bigger and better things"...those things just don't happen to be aligned with the desires of this pilot group. DALPA goes to great lengths (including paying guys with your dues money) to come on this board to control their message...and it's ridiculous. |

Fuel is a tailwind in Q3 and Q4? Especially when no one is paying attention in Q2! "The biggest cost opportunity ahead of us is fuel. We restructured our hedge book this quarter, which will put the bulk of our hedge losses behind us after this quarter. So starting July 1, we will have significant tailwind from fuel, with fuel prices 25% lower than what we’ll pay in the first half of the year." For the second half of the year, given the hedge book restructuring, we expect our fuel price per gallon to be consistent with the industry average. We have a total of about $300 million in hedge losses for the second half and 90% to 95% downside participation to a Brent price of approximately $40 a barrel. This will equate to roughly 25% lower price per gallon for Delta in the second half relative to the first. For the second half of the year, we expect our all-in fuel price to be in the range of $2 and $2.05 per gallon, which is approximately $0.70 to $0.75 lower than 2014. Overall, we continue to expect fuel cost to be an enormous tailwind and provide a net benefit of $2.2 billion for Delta for the year. We’re also well-positioned to benefit if fuel remains at these levels in 2016. As a result, our already strong cash flow will continue to grow, which will allow us to further strengthen the balance sheet by paying down debt, fund our pension plans and return cash to shareholders in 2015 and beyond. |

A little industrial psychology 101. If you float a ton of concession rumors, the group will react, but in the end will accept one or two concessions and feel like they escaped with a victory. That's what is happening right now.
Change your mindset. Demand improvements in every section. Stop spreading the rumors or accepting them as valid, much less reasonable. This corporation is running 20% profit margins. It's now or never. We will never see a better chance to improve our way of life. Write your reps. Demand more, not one concession. There is no reason to accept a concession, and 6 billion reasons to demand a better contract. |
