That's what I thought, too.
I don't consider myself a liar.
I thought they want it verified so I verified, because that's what it says in the PWA.

That's why it surprised me when my signed, dated, Delta sick leave verification form from the Dr. that said "sick visit" was rejected because "it didn't specify the illness in general terms"

When I sent in a picture of my medication (antibiotics) for a sinus infection they came back with "that could be for any illness."

It compelled me to have a talk with a higher up because I didn't get the impression I was working for a company hell bent on taking a razor to the PWA language to set an example. Your own accord shows that Anderson is hot about sick leave, so it should't really come as a surprise that someone tasked with enforcing a new "get tough" attitude when it comes to sick leave working for a newly established company office would err on the side of "let's get 'em" rather than winding the watch...

My second denial was even more ridiculous because not only did I have a Dr's note but I called the chief pilot from the hospital explaining the reason for my sick call.

In this second instance even the third Flight Ops manager/Chief pilot type was at a loss why it was denied. I did happen to be in the office when some ALPA reps walked by, overheard the situation and were able to fix it, and I did appreciate the help from ALPA.

My point is, out of three verified sick calls, I only had one that went unchallenged - ironically for a tooth ache.

That's a pretty lousy track record if out of three tries only two are successful.
With as you say "how hot Anderson is about sick leave" it seems foolish to assume the new sick leave language of C2015 will somehow result in a more benevolent approach to sick leave by the company; I'd expect quite the opposite.

I think based on my personal experience with sick leave verification, the proposed PWA language needs to be parsed with an eye for "what could the company possibly get away with" as opposed to expecting "they wouldn't do that."

If it's not in writing, it just doesn't exist.
Even if it is in writing, it might be ignored and subject to a grievance.

YMMV

Cheers
George

Bananie, I think it's item 3 that's troubling:

What are the limitations for the company Dr or other health care professional?
I ask because I had my Drs. sick form "denied" twice already...
That is the game the company is playing. They parse the words with a razor and in one instance "denied" my sick leave because the signed and dated Delta sick form from my in-network Dr. that said I was sick and the prescription medication filled were "not specific enough for stating the nature of the illness in general terms"
After many phone calls with the Delta sick leave admin, my LEC rep and Contract Admin nothing got resolved.
ALPA contract admin said the company was right and I should find a new Dr. that will fill out the sick leave form to the companies' liking.
In the end my only recourse was to speak to a Flight Ops manager in person. He was finally able to put the sillyness to rest.

Knowing that's how Delta parses our PWA sick leave language, I am very concerned with the new proposed contract language.

THIS!!!!!

This is how they will limit us to 15 days of sick time. It's happens to me three times this year. Once for the flu. Once for head congestion. I wasn't near 100 hours so I didn't go to the lengths George did. You yes people think this only affects the "abusers"? You are sorely mistaken.

Yup. And if we assume you are not going to fly sick the end result is lost wages. What is mind boggling is the company is making billions a quarter and they are gutting sick leave to make sure you show up for your two day healthy or not.

The 8/6/3/3 (minus 5.75% PS) is being sold as the one upside of this TA. But if PS didn't exist, wouldn't the raise be more like 8/3/3/3? 8 for the givebacks and early deal and a cola bump each year. So in essence we would give up 5.75% PS for a 3% pay raise.

I know Mike. We also appreciate the pay raises you got for us that included adjustments for flatulation.
