Regret it yet?

Dumb question(s) from a guy in the pool:
Can someone tell me or point me in the right direction to find out what happens now that the TA failed to pass? What's the process for negotiating/passing the next one?
It's a nervous time having my current job come to an end (military) without a definite start date on my next.
Any advice on whether to take a job with JetBlue in Sep or keep waiting for the indefinite future with a Delta CJO?

When is your expected class date? Personally, I would go to Jetblue and wait for my Delta class date there. If something bad happens and Delta stops classes, at least you'll have a job.

We get parked, go to mediation and PEB!!! Sorry that's a little union humor... We go back to the negotiating table. Our contract doesn't expire, it just become amenable, so we continue to work under our current contract. I wouldn't really worry too much about negotiations or the failed TA. This place is still a great place to work and the contract is still pretty dang good (IMHO it's better than the TA).

You must find out if there is any sort of training bond at JetBlue. I don't think there is, but you need to ask. Someone over at their forum will have a quick answer.
If the answer is no. It's a simple decision. You ALWAYS take the job offered. You never know what could happen between now and your CJO at DAL. I advise you to take the JetBlue job with the idea of leaving if you get a class date at DAL.
You will experience some serious changes in acceptable behavior when transitioning from the military world to civilian. It is not dishonorable to work briefly at one company while waiting for your job preference. JetBlue is completely aware of this situation. While I wouldn't tell anyone at JetBlue about your CJO, they have a lot of guys who view the job as a stepping stone.
Now, if it were FedEx, we would be having a different discussion.
Good luck.

Like the other posters said, don't tell anyone at JetBlue about your CJO at Delta. When the time comes, pull the plug and don't look back.

Congrats on entering the airline world (and having some good options!)
I suggest finding a cliff notes version of the Railway Labor Act (RLA). It sounds weird, but it was amended to include airlines. All other union groups work under National Labor Relations Board Rules, but we are different and fall under the National Mediation Board (NMB).
The quick rundown is that the act gives railroads and airlines a separate set of rules because we are deemed critical to the national economy. It is designed to delay delay and delay any labor issues/strikes/lockouts/slowdowns/etc. Did I mention there is a lot of provisions to delay any problems?
You can google around and find some nice flow charts of the process. The bottom line is that it essentially makes it illegal for a strike/lockout without government approval. As the process plays out "status quo" must be maintained. The general thought is that the major airlines have grown too big to strike..it would be politically harmful for the President and Congress to allow an airline to create chaos for millions of passengers, in addition it would cause too big of disruption to the economy.
Bottom line is even if negotiations turn sour at Delta (or any airline), it will be YEARS before a strike could even be considered...and most likely not even then. That being said it is the airline industry, times are good now but that can change in an instant. Good advice is to live below your means, keep debt to a minimum, have a solid emergency fund and always have a backup plan. Good Luck.
