Default UAL Pilot Profit Sharing

From UAL TA Q and A

Correct. This is from the LOA Q & A:

12. Are there any changes to our profit sharing?
Answer – No. The Delta profit sharing structure is nearly identical to ours. Their company is just making a lot more money. If UAL was making that much, our profit sharing checks would be roughly equal to Delta pilots' checks.

I thought ours was much better and this is not the case. They are nearly identical. Ours hits 20% at $2.5 billion and UAL is 20% at $2.7 billion.

This United pilots new rates (if voted in) have no reduction in profit sharing.

THIS IS HUGE

NO REDUCTION IN PROFIT SHARING!!!!!

Please forward far and wide.

I agree completely. It is huge for us that UAL received a large increase in rates and maintained the 20% profit sharing trigger. OFG

Is their definition of what monies go into profit sharing the same as ours also?

From UAL PWA:

3-H Profit Sharing

3-H-1 Pilots shall participate in the Company profit sharing plan.

3-H-2 For profit-sharing based on the years 2012 and 2013, the Company profit sharing plan shall be funded with fifteen percent (15%) of pre-tax profit.

3-H-3 For profit-sharing based on the years 2014 and beyond, the Company profit sharing plan shall be funded with ten percent (10%) of pre-tax profit up to a pre-tax margin of six and nine-tenths percent (6.9%) plus twenty percent (20%) of pre-tax profit in excess of a pre-tax margin of six and nine-tenths percent (6.9%).

3-H-4 Special and unusual items shall be excluded from pre-tax profit when making the calculations in Sections 3-H-2 and 3-H-3.

I believe the DL definition of PTIX is more generous. BUT, UAL retains a 20% trigger with the big rate increase. DL wanted to raise the 20% trigger in our TA and tied it to preceding years profit for the noncontract employee "raise." This has to help our case for higher rates and keeping the PS unchanged. Not JMO, OFG
