Why should we give that up again? Anyone who has stated we should monetize it.

Edited it, this and any forum is tough to convey meaning but I hope this helps. Just because you quote someone doesn't mean your are attacking them. You may be pointing out their valid point. Sorry for trying to keep the runnning grammar hoummor. How about spelling? Not as entertaining as FTB (I know.)

Forgive me if I am misunderstanding, but are you saying you can put the profit sharing into a 401k and if so you feel this is worth extra?

I think he means that our PS payout also generates a separate 15% DC contribution - so we got that going for us, which is nice.
OBTW - The "Clampster" referenced some soft pay items that you guys received and my 2X furloughed UAL buddy is ecstatic that he is now getting full longevity for his furlough time(s) with this TA, I think he will go from about 6 year to 12 years longevity He has a pretty good corporate gig but is now pretty eager to get back to UAL.

With the size of the PS check this year more pilots will be limited by the 265,000 max on 401k contributions so that might be another reason to front load.

So give me a honest opinion. SD stated in the road shows that the contract was not going to be a priority and they would not make the resources available for a quick agreement. He stated we would return to traditional bargining. Several statements in publications from the company reiterated those statements. In addition reaching a agreement in 2016 is not one of flight ops stated goals. They have always put that in when we are in negotiations.
When the company received our new opener they said we are very far apart and left without asking one question. Something that has never happened before. They then stated they would get back to us in January. They are doing that on the very last business day of the month almost 6 weeks later. It appears they plan on sending the second and third team to the meetings with no real decision makers. Does it seem like they are in a hurry?
I stand by the statement that pilots need to understand the contract is expired or amendable your choice. The union needs to think outside the box to find a legal method to bring the company to the table with the intent to reach a agreement.

1.) C2012, we were told the 717's were contingent on us approving the TA. Later, there were reports that the deal was made with SWA long before we voted.
2.) Failed TA 2015, we were told a 737/E-190 order was contingent on us ratifying the deal.

3.) Failed TA 2015, we were told that the agreement on the table was the best offer. No proof, as of yet, but do you think the company is going to come back to us with something less than Failed TA 2015? (No. Especially, in light of the new agreement at United.)
I'm sure the list goes on...
Should we believe everything we are told? No.
Does it seem like the company is in a hurry? Who knows.
But, maybe they will be when the effects start to sink in when Delta MD88/90's and A320's start taxing by United widebody aircraft and the captains realize they are making less then their FO's.
It's not our doing. It's theirs for offering us such a crappy TA.
We will see what happens, but I'm not worried and I'm willing to wait.
