Else start next bid group
#11
What is the difference between else start next and clear schedule start next? And what is next bid group? Can I do 'start pairings', some request here, then some request with else start next, and then another 'start pairings'? Is that second 'start pairings' a new bid group or will it only go to reserve?
Prefer Off Dec 12-Dec30, Else start Next
Award Pairing 123, Else start next
Award Layover SAN, Else start next
Award pairing 533
Award pairing 544
Clear Schedule and start next
Award pairings
You can do that.^^
Your next bid group can be Reserve or a regular line. It is up to you... "Add" ->"Start New Bid Group" -> Start pairings or Start Reserve. Your choice.

Thanks for all of that. So if I have a set condition pattern with an else start next and then a start pairings with other requests will it try to get me my 3-5 on with 3 off pattern first no matter what and ignore all my other requests? Or will it WILL continue with my other requests such as check in our out times? What if I don't even put in the else start next? Guess I'm not sure how else start next affects the set condition pattern.
Remember, PBS will go down line by line. It will try to honor each line until it is available to give you a schedule. Remember, line by line and PBS is literal. It will not read between the lines and interpret. PBS will try to BUILD you a line if it can.
First, with your pattern request, PBS will try to award you your pattern. If it cant, it will jump to your next bid group, whether you have Pairings or Reserve. Because that is what you put down, ESN. If you dont put ESN for your pattern and PBS cannot build you the desired pattern; PBS will continue line by line until it can build you a schedule.
If PBS is able to give you the desired pattern, then PBS will go to the next line and then the next line and then the next line; to fill up your schedule. If you do not have ESN or CSSN, then PBS will fill up your schedule however it can with your pattern honored.
Other than that, you can also put CSSN or ESN on your line requests to customize your schedule.
Call PBS assist. Tell them what you are looking for. They will look at the way you bid and advise.
Good Luck,
