The busy summer flying season starts June 1st. 40 days from now.
Captain Malone has stated many times that there is no reason why we shouldn't have an agreement by then.
I agree. Management can negotiate very quickly when they choose to.
What we have so far is another handful of dust. A couple of weeks more of our willingness to work together with management and share in the success we created.
If there is no progress, then the gloves need to come off. Picketing to expose their greed. Their selfishness. Picketing to let the world know we have suffered enough. That we will not sit idly by while our execs waste billions more on stock buybacks to make themselves rich while our bankruptcy concessions remain in place.
If our executives cannot share in the success we created, theirs is a lead we cannot follow.
American Airlines Doug Parker learned the hard way about profit sharing. Parker says it over and over now. Happy employees are the only way large airlines can prosper.
I hope for the best. I hope Ed chooses honor and honesty.
40 days to go. Our patience is running out.

I do too! But remember, Ed's got enough money to last him 50 life times. I can guarantee he sleeps well but what I cant guarantee is him doing the right thing. With all the money and security he has padded himself with, what is his incentive to do the right thing? My opinion is he probably thinks we, pilots, are a nuisance and he would rather squash us then do the right thing.

Ed has waited a long time to grab the scepter.
The shoes he is filling are huge to say the least.
I think reputation is far more important than money.
The Delta pilots have a long history of excellent relations with their management. The Delta pilots have a credibility like no other pilot group. The Delta pilots have contributed Billions more than any other party to the success the and record profitability the company enjoys today.
Wall Street is littered with CEOs who couldn't make the grade. Yahoo's Marissa Mayer and Kmart's Chuck Conway come to mind.
Being the CEO how destroyed the relationship with the Delta pilots is not a legacy Mr. Bastain dreams of.
The simple fact that Q1 EPS tripled and pretax income tripled and we are "NOT" making progress to a TA is beyond unacceptable.
This is not just normal negotiations as some would frame it.
I agree with you, we are ready for a squabble. We are ready to take all the legal actions afforded us under the Railway Labor Act.
Our position is more than fair. We are more than reasonable. We have been more than patient.
Our patience wears thin.
39 days to go.

If you don't have fuel just sit at gate and wait don't call, if no catering just sit at gate and wait, etc..... There is nothing that says you have to be doing anyone else's job. Just wait! Then the gears fall off.

Summer is very important. They will listen to you only during the summer.
If no progress made by July/August - nothing will happen until next late spring.
Take it from an old fart: You guys need to be picketing, not just posting pictures of topless girls in orange shorts on facebook!

Chicago Workers? Compensation Lawyer :: Summer Of Hell Exacts Heavy Tolls :: DeKalb County United Airlines' Work Accident Attorney
Some data points sound eerily familiar to United in 2001 (21% pay raise, company full of cash, April discussions with summer travel approaching....)

DALPA will have missed another golden contract opportunity if WE do not start informational picketing throughout the system in the next few weeks... ATL, JFK, LAX, SEA MSP, DTW, SLC and CVG should be setting up volunteers and signs now. We have an abundance of pilots ready to walk the terminals... the media needs to cover this ASAP in order for us to increase leverage. The time has arrived for us to take it to next next level... we are done waiting for management to agree on a reasonable contract.
