Just in case the timing distracted anyone from the other news today.

UPDATE 1-China Eastern orders 35 wide-body jets | Reuters

I happen to think this is much more impactful news today, give the international shell game.

Doesn't the seat mile metric help protect in this situation over the TA15 block hour change and the profit sharing help recoup the profits made from trying to offshoot widebody flying and international flying? Seems like it maybe a good firewall over losing widebody flying.

We don't have a JV or production balance agreement with CEA yet. By the time we get to that point CEA will have over 800+ mainline airplanes with a wide-body international fleet twice the size of ours with B777-300, B787-900, and A350-900s. I'm sure we will be just fine with smaller jets and block hours as the new norm. ...Right?!

"China Eastern, which has an equity tie up with Delta Air Line, aims to increase its market share this year on China-U.S. routes to 17 percent of total seats available, from 11 percent in 2015, according to its president Ma Xunlun."

Oh and by the way.....CEA just had a board of directors meeting. I wonder if it was Mr. Anderson or Mr. Bastian that attended that meeting to vote on this new order approval. Oh never mind, it's an "observers" seat. I'm sure they had nothing to do with this. They just knew about it and watched CEA plan their U.S. expansion.

That's completely different from being an active participant. Just in case the SEC, DOT, or DOJ happen to cruise by the APC site.

Would it not be a scope violation to sell tickets on CEA under Delta flight numbers without abiding by the PWA? If not, then how does the PWA protect from any of this? Also if Delta makes a ton of money off this it is beneficial that the profit sharing stays the same instead of getting reduced.

I believe we need the widebodies at Delta, I just think the TA15 could have made this worse with the block hour change and at least it is by seat mile still. If they can get around the PWA by selling Delta tickets on an unlimited CEA flights without any Delta flights, then that is a problem too.

This is correct assuming C2012 protections and profit sharing continue forward in the next pilot working agreement.

As for scope protection, I refer you to the AF/KLM scope grievance settlement letter. It seems everyone has a price, some are just lower than others.

We are poor enforcers of our own agreements, that needs to change!

No disagreement there. Should have stood firm on the original agreement, but it probably was a big reason for the turnover in the ranks.

Rolling over on the scope grievance and aggressively selling block hours are two key reasons for the change of leadership at DALPA. I have confidence the current leadership won't bring us a contract riddled with concessions, least of all scope concessions. It is Section 1 for a reason.

I'm not 100% positive, but I'm almost certain we have Pacific scope protections...not just protections against VA and AF KLM

Has anybody yet been able to get details on how this abortion of a settlement went down? I know the Moak clowns always like to say..."hey there's no point in looking back" but there is actually value to finding out what the hell happened there so it can never happen again.

I believe we should put a resolution forth to investigate what Donetelli did behind the backs of 13000 Delta pilots he failed to properly represent. I see a potential DFR lawsuit. Knowing what exactly happened there would also bolster our case next time Delta tries to not "Keep one of their deals".
