I just went to Aruba with the fam. Daily flight from JFK and ATL. Perfect weather, perfect beaches, great food, great resorts.
Open a Hyatt credit card(you and your wife), you each get two nights free when you spend $1000 on it.
Stay at Hyatt with four free nights.
We had a great time.

Thanks for the info. I've been leaning towards the southern Caribbean. The Hyatt Card is definitely good info for future reference. As far as St. Martin, do you have to take a ferry or inter-island flight to get there from St. Thomas?

Highly recommend Turks and Caicos. Stay at the windsong on the reef resort. Fantastic...went with wife end of June. Phenomenal beach, free sail boats, sail boards, one of the best snorkle reefs 50 ft off shore, great little restaurant beside hotel at next resort...tiki type hut. Check through delta perks, high season is the late fall winter. Amazing staff

My favorite Caribbean island is St. John. Fly into St. Thomas and take a ferry to St. John. Very small island, with a town (Cruz Bay) big enough to get the necessities. You'll recognize the famous picturesque Trunk Bay, along with Hawksnest Bay, and Cinnamon Bay. Really enjoyed the Annaberg sugar mill, an abandoned site with an amazing view of the British Virgin Islands.

AND, you don't even have to leave the US.

Check out Scrub Island off the coast of Tortolla in the BVI. Smaller resort but vey nice. If you want a Romantic/Secluded Resort, Try Peter's Island Resort and Spa. One TV on the Island (in the gym), limited cell phone, Internet service but lovely beaches and good restaurants. $$$$$.
