That seems right on par with our schedulers.

And yet I've only flown 40 hours this month, with only a few days left. Guess the RAW system works... It's all these red eyes to the west coast and back for me.

I flew 3 years of reserve @ AS and never broke 60. Usually was gone 6-7 DAYS for the month totaling 25-40 hrs. Their short call res pays 79 hours. Was a GREAT deal! They are now very short staffed as they have been all Summer, but most guys are not getting close to guarantee.

How is your typical month on res in LA on the NG?

Baja.

Basically it is some complicated formula they assign to every hr of credit or flight that equals out who works and who does not. It is in section 23 of the PWA. In lay mans' terms, it is about two credit points for each hr of credit/flight.

Basically the more you work, the higher your RAW gets. RAW is one of the factors used to assign open time to reserves.

New Hire here, starting in the Sep. 20th class and I have a few questions. If you are based in NYC how much flying do you do at each airport? Do certain aircraft types do more flying out of JFK than LGA? I would be a commuter just wondering how people handle getting back and forth from all the airports to their crash pads. Thanks

I'm on the 7ER (757/767 international), based in NYC. In 2.5 years of being based there with both a line and on reserve, I've done 1 trip out of LGA, none out of EWR, the rest being out of JFK. I'm very junior on the airplane.

My crashpad is near JFK, so I've lucked out. Others will probably correct me, but from what I've seen the M88 folks seem to have more LGA than anything, but some JFK as well. Not much EWR either. The 737 seems to be almost all JFK, maybe a bit of LGA, not much EWR either.

There are inexpensive cab companies and shuttles than go between the airports, so that's not too bad. It seems like most M88 pilots have crashpads closer to LGA, so it's easier to get there.
