Good point! It takes humility to request a wind check.

Has the company so far announced a year when they will begin retiring the old gal?

I imagine the consolidation to ATL is a first step in that direction.

I think it's more to it than that. I'm just GUESSING, and I haven't a shred of evidence to support my theory, but I imagine the tail routers in OCC will limit 88 exposure to LGA post 'mishap.' Since limiting MTOW for performance reasons, two birds killed with one stone.
This might be the point where I'm heckled back under the rock from which I came.

Also, I believe as the 88 frames reach thirty, they will be retired, but once again I haven't a shred of supporting evidence, but I did sleep at a Holiday Inn Express last night. Literally ...

Not only that but I think the fact that they are non-GPS equipped will limit their presence in the NYC area due to ATC requirements which is why the NYC M88 base is headed for downsizing in 2017.

I cannot provide anything resembling proof. However, flying with management pilots (and guys who came to 88 in 89 who flew the planes as they arrived on property) I've been told we have already retired a few planes, and will continue to do so in lieu of heavy checks when due. Supposed to be about a dozen in 17.
