What makes you think the transition coordinator is for Bill's benefit?
There's a whole bunch of old guard Moakists that have been in the office doing "committee work" for a long long time. They haven't flown a schedule for years.
They're going to need some help with the transition back to flying the line.
I think it was very thoughtful of Bill.

Outrage? Nah. I think having 4 reps voting for themselves and each other in elections that go 10-9 looks bad. If it's not a problem, then please archive that opinion for future reference when the results might not be something you like.

No. Lee Moak had one. Of course, his transition included the merging to two large MEC's into one. As I recall, the guy he named as Transition Coordinator didn't vote for him. I don't think any of Lee Moak's administration voted for themselves for those positions.
I think that was Kingsley Roberts. Maybe both.

I have seen several things I haven't liked,.And since you brought up Roberts, that would be one. I agree to archive my opinion. I don't doubt there was coordination but from a previous administration it might be labeled consensus building. I understand your disappointment with the outcome, I felt the same way when MD was tapped from Herndon obscurity.

And that matters because.....? They both were and are ALPA lifers. One had his chance and embarrassed himself so now the other is elected and this is some how a travesty? The styles are the issue. One was a national strike preparedness officer who was afraid to even mention the word strike and the other is a repeatedly elected council advocate.
Make no mistake Bartels will still have to answer to an engaged membership, but now is his time. He was duly elected, get over it. If he isn't capable of the job or a faction disapproves of him and has the votes, there wile be another Kingsley type coupe. Go organize your torches and pitch forks as I am sure you will.
