However we're likely looking for 160 seat replacements - the 737-832 and the 320. And in this regard, the 737-8 is very well liked throughout the industry.

Had a Spirit guy in the jumpseat who confirmed this as well. Theirs have the P&W GTF motors. We seem to like CFM and have a huge fleet of 737 and A320 powered birds. Might we avoid the unproven tech of the GTF and go for the LEAP?

in spite of gouge otherwise......its difficult for me to buy there will be no 73max or other new variant in Deltas fleet.
the cfm is touted as the most durable/reliable in the industry. combining that with an airframe and systems that are also equally historically reliable?
tuff odds to bet against.

I suspect the 737Max9 is a better choice for comparison. The 900 should be compared with the current A320.

The 737-900 is perfectly suited for a bunch of routes like ATL-FL, ATL- NYC, NYC - FL etc. It is a very economical way to move 180 passengers.
It is not however very good for LAX-HNL, SEA-HNL etc. And is a very poor substitution for the 757 on longer more demanding routes.
Passengers seem to love the interior and the entertainment, but hey this is the US where the average persons biggest discriminator when buying a smart phone is what color it is offered in.
