Default Better. IAH layover hotel

I'm looking for alternatives to our current hotel so when I complain about it I can offer them up instead. We currently stay at the Doubbletree, Greenway Plaza. It's a good hotel and the area is fine but it's about a 45 minute drive. Too far, IMO. Our lobby show time is 120 minutes before takeoff. That's pushing the limits of my patience. I don't enjoy crew van rides and I consider them the most dangerous part of my job. Fortunately it not early in the morning.

Any suggestions?

We rarely stay AT the airport. Nor would we want to.

Look, thank you for your suggestion but I'm looking to hear from others as to where they stay and why they like it. Of course we could stay at the airport but those hotels are usually not interested in the kind of rates the airline is willing to pay. And most crews would like to get closer to the city where there is something to see and do.

If you don't like the 45 minute drive your not gonna be able to stay downtown. The woodlands is probably a 25 minute drive from IAH and is a really nice area with plenty of stuff to do. I'm like Satpak77 though if you don't like the drive there are several hotels near the airport, but there isn't anything to do around them.

We were at the Woodlands and you're right, that was really nice. Ever since we contracted with a 3rd party vendor to find our hotels they have been getting worse.

The Woodlands has two good restaurants Jasper's and Perry's steakhouse. Crush wine lounge is good too.

Hilton Post Oak. A very good hotel, right next to the Galleria Mall. Nice area also…

The area around the Galleria mall is perfect.
