In time I may. I have different motivations than most. It's not about money or equipment with me, but rather just wanting to have some fun flying and do some "stick" wiggling here and there. Being a semi-old fart (50 is the new 40, right?) I don't want to be stuck at the bottom of some Major's seniority list until age 65.

Have a good one!

As a recently retired AF guy who just finished training at a regional, let me just clear some things up...

1) you're not going to do any "stick wiggling" at the regionals, any more than you would be at a major.

2) there is more movement at the majors than at the regionals. The big guys have depth and breadth to their fleets, with a number of retirements looming. Regionals have lifers at the top, with people from the middle/down clamoring for the remaining spots. Fewer bases and usually about two airframes to pick from/move to. There's little depth, and no breadth.

Stuck at the bottom? I got hired into the CRJ-200, then five (six?) classes after me all got the 900. I'm about 5 from the bottom in the company on this plane, and about 2 from the bottom in base.

If I'm going to commute, I'd rather do it at $85 an hour than $30 an hour.

Do with this info as you will.

You're not going to "clear" anything up for me. Having flown (and commuted) for three airlines (two regionals, and one major) plus one fractional outfit, I am pretty well versed in the work, pay, and life style of 121 flying. At this stage of my life it's all about QOL for me. I'd rather NOT commute for $30 or $85 an hour.

I can understand the not-commuting thing, for sure.

If not you, maybe my post can help someone else make a decision in the future.

Well DTW captain at Delta is less than 3 years.... At Endeavor it's more like 10.... Granted that could change soon but then again MSP 200 is closing and that is awfully senior.
