Are we allowed to travel home on the weekends? If so, are we given positive space or are we responsible for the ticket.

Yes and yes. The person who emails you your travel details is also the person you email for positive space home on weekends. Worth noting though that most people stay and study on the weekends or go to the lab to go through systems. End of the first week is the best weekend to travel home.

You can ask for positive space home anytime you have 2 days off in training.

You’ll get time off after your year of probation. It’s called vacation. Stick around and study if you want to pass.

There have been quite a few training failures lately. Don’t become that statistic.

I went home most weekends and did fine. It's all about your personal study preferences and habits. You know what works best for you. The pilots with a crazy home-life full of distractions did better by staying. I did better by getting out of the hotel and studying in my own house. Too each his/her own. About half my class went home a few weekends during ground school.

Also, be careful of study groups. Get the right group of the right size and it's a learning multiplier. But a lot of times it's a long drawn out waste of time where the blind are leading the blind.

Keep in mind, ground school is only 4 weeks long so it's not that long of a haul anyway. Sims are a different story. You may (probably will) get frequent breaks of days at a time.

That is not correct.

New hires still go home after the initial 2 days of Indoc to do home study. The LOA did expire, however, we are still sending guys home. They now come back the following Monday to start class on Tuesday instead of Sunday with a Monday start when the LOA was still in place. This has been confirmed by flight ops training department.

Also incorrect. Lots of misinformation being spread on here..

New hires are still being sent home after 2 days of Indoc. But the return flight is on the following Sunday to resume class on Monday. Best way to confirm is by getting the schedule from a new hire that actually has it in front of them.

I guess some guys come back on Sunday and others on Monday. Either way, you still go back home after the initial 2 days here in MSP.
