Default Training and Holidays

Hey Folks!

New guy getting ready to start training. Been in the 135 world for some time, decided to finally make the leap. I'm just wondering if anyone went through training during thanksgiving and christmas? basically if they sent you home or you stuck it out.

Disclosure: I have missed the holidays the last 2 years so it will not be anything new to me if it's bad news

Thanks in advance!

Usually send you home Wednesday evening for Thanksgiving and you come back Sunday afternoon. For Xmas, no training Xmas day or news years day. If you're in sims that's all you get. If you're in ground, I think you also get Xmas (monday) and that Tuesday off as well. Plus news year day. The training guys know you are no good on holidays and they wanna be home with family too.

Anyone respond or PM me on the training footprint. I've heard something about showing up for a couple of days, getting sent home with your EFB. 90-100 day training footprint. When can you bid for a CA vacancy? Previous 9E guy with the company time already.

90 ish days. They were doing 2 days in MSP and 3 days at home with LMS for indoc. That LOA expired, I don't know if that's what they're still doing now or if you stay the full time in MSP now.

You'll be able to bid CA as soon as there's an actual vacancy once you're on property.

2500 TT and 1000 company required. Though those have been reduced in 2 out of the last 3 vacancies.

For new hire training over Christmas (based on my class last year) we were sent home several days before Christmas and didn't return until the day after New Years. If you call recruiting they'll tell you this years holiday schedule, once you get a CJO you'll be able to pick your class and they typically build them around the holidays as I described.

I think 9E does all their training in MSP for ground school and MSP/PHX for simulator, based on the posts here. Given that, as a new hire it is unlikely that you will be allowed to park in the ATL employee lot. That's my best guess anyway.

Training is done in MSP. Parking in ATL is at AATC lot 3 which you need a parking paddle and a SIDA or Company ID for. For you first trip to MSP you won't be able to park there. Once you attend your first day of training and they send you home for self study you will have the info to contact the ATL base manager and get a parking paddle issued to you.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the LOA for the self study at home has expired.

Correct, it expired and was decided not to be renewed. New hires stay for the full week now.
