They finally get the right price for Compass?

That's what the word is. New hires better get ready for lots of reserve in NYC.

United apparently used their veto power on Republic's buyout of Trans States Holdings

That seems like a really odd play given consolidation is necessary among regionals. That's really going to hurt, yikes.

It seems (without any other information forthcoming) that the consolidation strategy du jour (of Delta, at least)is “let the contracts run out and move the planes”

AA seems ready to play this game, but UAL seems to be suddenly waking up to the possibility of increasing its ownership stake in its regionals.

I didn't think TSH could survive outside of the merger, they're dependent on 50 seaters, and their order book is aircraft they can't operate(mainline scope). Does UAL plan to bankrupt them, and then buy them?

I don’t think anyone is planning on buying TSH at this point. (Mesa?) I seems like the majors have collectively decided to call HK’s bluff and just let the contracts run out.

I think that UAL is trying to decide on how to deal with the implications of this move. They are the only ones without a partner or WO that could absorb the airframes from a failed TSH.

Huh? Our newest CEO says 30-50 new hires a month. But that was 4 days ago

This almost sounds as reliable as GoJet getting their contract extended 7 years.

Incorrect. As of 10am this morning, still a Fall announcement. Still the same hiring plan. Still fleet growth in 2019.
