For new hires yes, they’re in a pretty good spot. However, if they’re assigned the 900 we must remember they’ll be knocked down by more senior fos bailing the 200 for the 900. That happened to me and a lot of others in 2017 and we were on reserve for 7 months post IOE even though we were hiring 60 a month...

My two cents - best commuting policy (positive space after first try), best pay (highest rates and no fine print to earn bonuses), and best culture (despite what some of us curmudgeons say on here). It's hard to predict what our industry will look like in 3-5 years, but there's a great chance you'll be in the left seat living large...or in the right seat at a major (with a 100% chance to earn a spot at Delta).

What do you want to be when you "grow up"? A Delta captain? If so, come here and learn the systems and process. If you don't care, come here and make more money. Either way, I really enjoy flying here. Hope to have you in my flight deck soon.
When I grow up.. Lol. I'm 35 but yes I know exactly what you mean by that. BTW love the username. Definitely made a lot of sense to me and highly appreciate the input.

How does a new crew base open upgrade slots? How would that not just cut down on the number of slots in other bases?

I agree that growth adds upgrade opportunities, but I'd be skeptical about new bases doing much.

Appreciate that. I just don't want you to read too much into what some folks say on here. Be sure you connect with our recruitment team, do the homework, and weigh all of your options.

I came here from another regional carrier, had an offer at an AAWO, but ultimately chose to come here for the reasons I stated above. For me, commutability from out west and the family-like culture are on par with the pay and advancement opportunities. Wish you the best with your decision!

If the new crew base was in a highly undesirable location it might, but otherwise you are right. Don’t really see that being the case with RDU or CVG. They are both easily accessible from where our pilots live and desirable places to live.

If you want to be on reserve for at least six months under some of the worst regional reserve rules existing today, this is the place for you!

good pay....terrible reserve rules and no flow. This place is not the place to be. maybe if you live in one of the bases, but for what other regionals are offering not to mention the AAWO flows this company should be lower on your list at the current moment...not that things might change over time but right now go somewhere else.

Which regionals have better reserve rules? I agree PSA and Envoy should be better choices for someone looking at regionals today. A few years ago, Endeavor was the place to go but things have changed with the recent stagnation and poor career progression.

So I am looking at reaching my Mins in July/Aug of 2020. I live very close to LGA so I guess I am one of the few people wanting NYC bases. Do you think I will have timed it where I am stuck at the end of the growth and will remain on RSV for a while at NYC? Or is it the case where people leave NYC as soon as they can so it stays junior.

Have you worked anywhere else?

I have.

9E has a pretty good reserve system with a great commuter clause.

There may be a better reserve system out there, but 9E is far from the worst.

And six months on reserve is nothing. Many regional pilots at various regionals have sat reserve for years.
