Get the 700/900, or else you're going to be commuting for 18 months.

It's a seniority based system. NYC isn't a popular new hire base, pilots senior to you will have first crack and you'll get the leftovers. Someday you'll be more senior.

Keep your fingers crossed. No one here knows how senior CVG will go. Rank it #1 on your list, and hope for the best. Also, make sure you bid for the 900 at all bases before any 200 slots. You can move from NYC to CVG if you are 900, but there will be no 200’s based in CVG, so you’ll be stuck for 18 months if you get 200. Any 900 would be best for you.

We can pretty much guarantee cvg will be fairly senior, so as a new hire you will lucky to see it within 2 years. All the senior guys commuting from Msp and Dtw will jump at cvg. Then all the guys like you will be bidding it as well.

I'm guessing captains don't go past a #700 for a year. FOs #1500.

Enjoy NYC with a potential to ATL in a year.

Could favor NH who wants Dtw since that's a quick easy commute for myself. Yes I'm prepared for NYC.. 12 fights a day to lga vs 6 to dtw.. Just assumed if people leave dtw reserve wouldn't be that bad especially with the idea of growth at dtw(?)

But we all know what happens when you assume

I guess time will tell. What you say could make sense, as other than a select number of cities, the hubs are the only ones with single leg commute to CVG. I can’t see anyone bidding for CVG that doesn’t live in a base already, or somewhere with single legs to CVG. That’s why it “could” stay somewhat junior. Not to mention, some may hold off on bidding it for this vacancy just to see how junior it is or isn’t.

Agree. If I lived MSP I would think DTW would be a better choice than CVG. More flights daily between the two hubs than CVG. However, I do forsee alot of 200 pilots taking whatever base they can to get the 7/900 if they were under the seat lock. That will push junior 900 peeps down even further.

Ya know when ATL opened up I thought it would go more senior than granny’s favorite shoes, but initially it didn’t. If it’s not absolutely a no brainer a lot of folks will hold off to see how things pan out.

And of course for you new guys, once you hold a base, you can’t be forced out on a vacancy. Different story for a realignment and ect of course.

So, new guys bid it early if you really want it, you can even bid a new base in training, as long as your not changing seats or equipment you can have any base you can hold at your seniority.

As well, I’m not at all convinced CVG will be all that senior, it’ll certainly go junior to MSP, and likely DTW & ATL. Depends on what sort of flying gets added. If DAL wants CVG to get back a bit of its former glory we could see a fair amount of new flying added next year.

Good point, senior guys hate dealing with bases first spinning up, junior pilots lock it in early.
