I was under the impression that 180 was the minimum. That needs to be significantly improved or else the DGI only really is helping 2015-2016 hires.

If it’s 180 *max*, that’s only 13% of Delta new-hires coming from Endeavor. I just saw on Alaska’s facebook page, as a comparison, that they aim to hire 55% or more of their classes from their WO, Horizon.

While the enhancements are much welcome, appreciated, and a solid gesture, 13% is a bit pathetic if that’s all we can move.

Also depends on how many pilots we can get on property. If the numbers are bad Delta will be forced to adjust the class dates. All a numbers game......

Unless by “all of us” he meant all of us who are in our early 20’s and wear a hat and a Delta lanyard and talk about airplanes on layovers. Then maybe.

Honestly I’d be shocked if even 50% of pilots on property had Delta as their sole and final career goal.

The DGI isn't contractual, but the MEC certainly was involved. Even the company said it was a three-way meeting in its communication. Agreed that the change at the MEC probably helped move things along.

Been lurking here for years but rarely post. I passed on the DGI for a JetBlue interview. I know of many doing the same.

And let's not kid ourselves... these concessions were only offered cause attrition is up and Recruiting is working overtime to fill classes... with more airplanes on the way. And Not because Delta suddenly realized how valuable we are. Delta just needs to make sure they can staff 9E by making the DGI a little bit more attractive... even though they HATE doing it.

It's hard to argue against that. 9E had a new Facebook ad touting the improved DGI online within an hour of the news release.

Put it this way: I’ve been here over 2 years, still hundreds of numbers from upgrade. Assuming I upgrade in 6 months, I’m still over 2 and a half years from a DGI. If you think this “enhancement” is going to keep me here, or if you’re behind me but you aren’t putting apps out elsewhere because of this minor tweak, you’re b-a-n-a-n-a-s.

Credit where it’s due, it’s a nice improvement! But if you’re passing on a chance to go to Spirit or United or jetBlue NOW for a marginally-improved DGI 3 years from now, I think your priorities are askew.

The language specifies they’ll offer new-hire positions to 1/3 of all available positions OR 180 positions, whichever is less. In a year like 2020 that they’re expecting 1200+ new hires, 180 is by far the lessor. That number does not include any OTS hires though.

And as far as the poster comparing Alaska taking 55% from horizon, that argument will carry more weight when they’re hiring over a 1000 pilots per year; until then expecting DL to take 600+ 9E pilots per year is unfathomable.
